I....love this car. I am 6ft, 3in and 220lbs. I have PLENTY of room. The car gets phenomenal gas mileage and I average 39mpg per tank. I purchased a Scan Meter so I can get instantaneous fuel consumption readings. It's kinda fun as you drive to see how you're doing. It's a very inexpensive, very reliable car. Plain and simple. If you're looking for your car to make you feel good or how others think of you --- go buy a convertible. This is purely a utilitarian vehicle for the masses. The folding seats/hatchback allow for plenty of storage. I brought a sheet of plywood home in it, though it's not recommended (above my head as I drove with the hatchback open). Sure the car tops the list on being gay friendly and I'm the butt of many jokes. Whatever, when $147/bbl oil comes back (and it is, folks) I'll laugh at the gas pump....read morehide

I've had the car for almost a year now and have put 17,000 miles on it. All I have done is oil changes and aftermarket mods. There are a lot of TRD parts for this car as well as private company parts. Don't believe CR about this car, it's faster than a Fit (do research) and gets better fuel economy (I avg. 32-38 and I have a lead foot). It is from Japan and has been sold overseas for years before coming to the US. If you do your research and compare other driver's reviews, you will find that this is a top rated vehicle by users (again, ignore CR)....read morehide

I bought my Yaris in April 08. I love this car as a first "new" car. The price is right and the car handles well. The headlights are a bit difficult to see with at night in a good rain. Doesn't take too much to fill the tank and its just big enough to say you have some trunk space unlike those Smart cars. I would seriously suggest purchasing this car, for new or old drivers....read morehide

This is my second Yaris, the 1st was a red one but I took it Deer Hunting and nailed an 8 point huge buck at about 60mph. Car was totaled but I did not get a scratch. Replaced with the Silver Bullet. I drive 63miles one way to work every day and get 39.8-41mpg every tank. I drive too fast and on two lane Ozark Mtn Hwys, lots of hills. Take it on the Interstate from time to time and set cruise at 80 with the a/c on and have never had noise issue. One co worker fell asleep on the way back and was shocked at how much room.I am 6'1" and 220# If you don't like the Yaris...You need to keep Land Yacht, I will honk past the Gas station. Murphy Gas/Wallyworld babay!...read morehide

Weird handling,,in deceleration...read morehide

Don't BUY IT! Please don't even consider it for your college student. It is a suicidal car. Has NO pickup power and transmission drags.
Buy a matrix instead. Toyota! What were you thinking when you design this piece of junk! Discontinue a good thing like the Echo - makes sense and then bring out a disaster!...read morehide

Bought it in March and I find it living up to my expectations. I wanted a car that was easy on the gas mileage and my wallet. The price was a little more than what I wanted to pay, but the savings in gas alone has paid off. I filled up today (I was on Empty) and it was only $38! I get about 400 miles to the tank.
It handles really well (a bit squirrelly on the highway) and can keep up with highway traffic.
CONS-Comfort is lacking when driving longer distances. Rear seats offer adequate legroom for younger and smaller folks, but adults will be cramped. Engine noise is not bad for such a small car, but it is louder than mid-size and larger vehicles.
OVERALL-Good car for the money. Don't expect a Mercedes ride. This is a good commuter car and I can recommend it to people without hesitation. Just realize that the Yaris is not a luxury/show car. It is meant to be an economical choice for short commutes and cities where gas is still $4+/gal....read morehide

I bought my Yaris in January of 2007. I have had no complaints at all. It is suprisingly roomy inside. It's easy to forget that you are in a tiny, efficient car. My husband and I live on the central coast of California and last summer drove from home all the way to Jasper, Canada. We had all of our camping gear in the back, below window level! We were comfortable the whole way there and back and the little car performed perfectly.
I highly recommend this car to anyone who is considering it. Try it...you'll love it....read morehide
