- Diesel prices can vary greatly

I loved the look and feel of the re-designed Beetle but the MPG was a hard sell for my wife. Thankfully, VW introduced the TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) diesel Beetle for the 2013 model year. The Beetle TDI mpg estimate is 28 city - 41 highway, my real world experience is more like 36 city - 47 highway.
The turbocharged diesel Beetle has excellent performance, attractive styling inside and out, great mpg, and the sun/sound/navigation package was exactly what I wanted in my new car. The fit and finish of the body and trim is excellent.
With the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle TDI I got the sporty performance and style and my wife is very happy with the MPG. First I love VW. Also have a 76 bus, and 72 super b.
This is a very well put together vehicle.
We knew we were going diesel because it is so much greener than any of the hybrids and we are looking to get 300K out of this.
It was down to this and the Audi A3, but after we drove this we could not see spending 10K more for fancy VW when this was fancy enough for us.
For those that are worried about diesel prices, watch them, they bounce around (damn oil crooks) and even when your Prius is burning the same amount of gas per 45 miles, ours exhaust is cleaner. Look it up. Also look up what they are going to do with that battery later and how much impact there was on the enviornment to make it in the first place.
Lastly, this is one hot looking car. Reminds you of the old beetles with the contrast color dashand the coat hook handle straps and the rear has that old 911 look.
They widened the stance to get better handling (flys through the mountain roads here in Oregon)
Passenger room is good, the bottoms of the rear seats are nice and deep so adults fit well. Get a bunch of tall people and you will have problems. Getting in and out is typical for 2d, but our daughter who has some special physicals needs has no problems....read morehide
