Purchased As New
Disclaimer: I purchased this car new and it only has 6,000 miles on it by which to judge "reliability."
I bought the 2011 Luxury Plus brand new despite reservations about the price tag...and I have absolutely no regrets!
Looks & Styling: The coupe-like proportions have not caused problems with my tall friends riding with me. There is plenty of leg room all around and the seats are quite comfortable. There are few cars that look similar but nobody has done as good a job as VW as the car's build has a sleek but aggressive stance (pics don't do it justice). You wouldn't know it just by looking at the outside, but the styling allows for a large trunk...and fold-down seats are a plus. Interior is beautiful with wood on the dash and doors and stitching on the seats. Unfortunately it only seats four, but that adds a touch of class / sportiness to the car. I get compliments on the car all the time.
Electronics: The electronics package is great - blue tooth, satellite radio, iPod dock, aux cable plugs, nav, etc. I'm not sure how it is with other cars, but it does seem to take about a minute for the nav system to get up and running when you first start the car. The base speaker system sounds good to me as I listen to classic rock, alternative, heavy metal, and even country.
Performance: I manage to get about 24 mpg mostly town driving and about 30-34 on the highway depending on how I drive on that trip. Suspension is good and you don't feel every tiny bump in the road, but I'm sure there are better cars out there in that respect. Run flat tires make a little road noise but not too bad (just turn on the radio). The 2.0T engine is very punchy and has a lot of get-up-and-go to it, especially when you are already at the 25-40 mph range and need to gun it - it's great on the highway. There's a bit of an engine growl while accelerating at lower speeds, but not bad.
Final Thoughts: This is my first VW and I will definitely look at them again when it comes time for a new car. With five seats the Jetta or Passat may be more practical but the CC is sportier and more unique. There may be other cars out there that are a better "value" as far as price compared to technical specs or features but sometimes you pay a little more for an overall better product. Go check on out in person and test drive it if possible and see what you think.
