2008 Volkswagen Eos
There are 3 user reviews for the VR6 trim shown below
- Great looks inside and out. Good color options. Hardtop to no top in seconds. Good quality materials
- Electrical problems! Body twists over uneven roads, more pronounced with 4 people. Engine failure!
Wow. Not what I was expecting after reading so many good reviews. So far after 4 months its been a total letdown.
First fuel economy for a V6 is appaling. I average 15.3 MPG with half city and half highway driving. The dealer has already added 3 quarts of oil in 4 thousand miles. Something can't be right but dealer says its been happening more and more and they don't have an answer.
The color options are good and the looks we love. In fact the biggest reason we bought this convertible. Its the best looking hardtop convertible with the best interior. We also like the Chrysler Sebring hardtop but they didn't have the color options we wanted at that time. Also the interior is not as nice as the Eos.
The resale value is also very good for this class and the back seat has room.
The body flexes way more than we like and you can hear noises especially when the radio is off and 4 people are inside. A bit of a safety concern.
Now to the most important part- We have had nothing but trouble with this car. We do like the car very much and its fun to drive. However, we can't see keeping a car that needs to be repaired more often than driven. Electrical problems are everywhere, from the power seats to the radio to the engine computer, to the ABS brake system to the lighting. The dealer is also up to his neck in repairs but this does not qualify as a lemon because the problem has been something different everytime. The engine control computer failed, rendering the car useless. We had to drive a loaner car for over a week. Then when we got it back, not 2 weeks later, it was back to the dealer for the transmission. Its a pain in the neck to switch your belongings from loaner car to your car and back and forth every couple of weeks. This is not what we expected from VW. A friend of ours told us to stay away from VW because she owned two VW's and had nothing but problems. We took the chance because we thought VW improved. Not so. This is the worst car we have owned and do not recommend to anyone....read morehide

- good fuel economy, great looks, everything a car $25,000 higher has
- access to back seat, gas and brake tend to tangle with mats too close
I love this car. I looked at Volvo, BMW, Pontiac, Saturn, and Mercedes, and it provided a great looking, loaded vehicle, without the price. Found out a two-seater, rag top is only fun driving around the parking lot. Love the trunk and the sun roof as extra is terrific

- Smooth power, handles great, has all the bells & whistles of BMW,Audi,Mercedes
- Other than the brake pedal too close to accelerator, rear window hard to see out of due to headrests
Great feature/value car. If you want a solid perfomance hardtop convertible you can't get more bang for the buck with the EOS. Doesn't quite ride as smooth as my bigger Audi but not bad for the size. Only hit is premium gas while still waiting to see 30 mpg. Looks great and can actually use the backseat....read morehide
