Purchased As New
I wanted a 4-seat, hard top convertible. It had to be FWD or AWD because RWD just doesn't work in Colorado. BMW does have an AWD convertible in its 6 series, but 2012 was the first year and the price tag is 100K+. So that left the Volvo C70 and the Eos. I originally thought I wanted the Volvo more. To me, it has a little more interesting styling, and, let's face it, Volvo has a little more prestige than VW. But after driving both cars, I chose the Eos because it was a bit more lively. The Volvo has more horses, but just doesn't have as spirited of a drive off the line. Which brings up my only real complaint about the EOS-- the tire squeal. Because all of the power goes to those front tires, giving it more than a little gas accelerating from a stop light makes the tires squeal. It can be embarrassing. But I've learned how to avoid it, and I have fewer of those moments. Incidentally, I didn't get great gas mileage when I first got the car (new), but after about 1000 miles I started getting really good mpg. The only thing I wish I'd done was get the Lux or Executive trim. The Komfort is just pretty basic.
