- Great driver's car for the price
- Somewhat limited cabin storage areas
Purchased As New
I just bought the Golf 3 days ago, and haven't actually driven it much, so these are my first impressions. It's a blast! The engine is powerful and quiet (but not broken in yet, so I've been sort of easy on it), the handling is very good (new tires, not taking it to the limit yet), considering it's suspension is on the soft side, with nice feedback from the steering wheel. It doesn't have any numbness common to assisted systems. The manual shifter is sweet. (tested the auto too, it was very nice, but I got the manual for it's fun factor) Considering that this is an $18,000 car (including destination charge) I am beyond impressed. I could go on and on about the great features- it's quick and really solid, has fantastic Recaro style seats that hug me perfectly (adjustable lumbar support on both sides) with very nice fabric, the smooth quiet ride with very good handling, the feeling of complete stability at 100+ speeds. It's got the interior of a much more expensive vehicle. And personally I think the exterior is very attractive, while the hatch makes it really versatile.
I'm not rating reliability, since I just got it, but Consumer Reports says it should be very reliable. I trust them.
Try it, you'll like it. Good job VW!
