- Economy, reliability, build quality
- dealer service is expensive, to get the weight down the body panels are thin (dent very easily)
Purchased As New
I purchased this TDI new because my work commute doubled and I wanted more economy. Traded a v6 Accord with the luxury package for a TDI Gold with the 6 speed manual. I live in MN so I did get a set of winter tires and rims for a more high profile sidewall (potholes) and traction. I recommend this. Economy on a warm day is 49-52mpg and on a cold day (MN -10F Cold is 38-40). I have had no failures on the car, original clutch, brakes etc @ 60k miles. It takes turns very well, yet won't win any drag races. The turbo does a great job and I can merge on the hwy @ 70+mph by the end of any ramp. You can also get HEATED CLOTH SEATS in the VW line up. The seat heat is legendary and will fry an egg if you turn it to max.
Your wife/husband will love it too, so buy 2 if you want to drive it.
