- great performance, practicle`
- bouncy ride, can eat a lot of fuel
Purchased As Used
Overall I really like my GTI, can't beat the value. Has the look and feel of more expensive cars. I feel confident on the road with it and would definitely buy another. The only problem is the fuel consumption can be high if you are a spirited driver.

- Fantastic MPG, awesome performance, have 20k miles & love it!!
- aux jack in glove box & only 1 accesory plug-in up front!
I have had mu '07 GTI for 3 months now, bought it w/ 9k miles on it. I drive 100 miles a day combined city & hwy. I drive it pretty hard at times, but still am getting 27 MPG in town. Hwy only, I am getting between 31-32 MPG driving 65-70 mph. Combined around 29 MPG. That is incredible with the pick up this "pocket rocket" has. I have the DSG transmission & it is great, a little quirky sometimes on reacceleration after slowing down, but it performs great. I own a auto repair shop, so I am very knowledgable about cars. You can not find another car for the money that has all this high-tech gear, elecgtric steering, turbo, tire pressure moniters, info center, suspension, performance, fuel economy, ride comfort. I got the 4 door(have 2 kids) and we all took a long trip and it was very comfortable, more room than you would think from just looking at it. I waitied until I got 20k miles to write this. Oil changes from my local dealer is great( even though I have my own shop) they service it for what I could, $50.00 for an LOF( synthetic oil), that's a great value. You will love this car, I guarenttee it!!!...read morehide

- Fun to drive! Fast, fuel efficient, and sporty. I'm very pleased!
- A bit rougher ride with the smaller tires..but if I wanted smooth I'd have a 7 series BMW
A perfect run around town car. The gas mileage is great. The leather sport seats are comfortable. My GTI Turbo is fully loaded with all the creature comforts and then some. (Only lacking power seats) And as far as storage space-I spent over $500 in groceries yesterday,(2 carts full), and all of it fit using the rear cargo and back seat areas. It amazed me. My 20 and 18 year olds love it. My husband & I have used it for several trips and it has been great. The navigation system and sound system are also great. I love my GTI!!!!...read morehide

- performance, fun factor!
- squeeks, rattles
I wanted to trade in my BMW 740I for something with good mileage & something fun. My white 4 door GTI with 18's is just a terrific car. Although I lost a lot of money on the trade & the VW dealer in Bellevue WA. played some serious games with the numbers, I'm glad I did the deal! Campared to Cororra, I mean Corolla, Camary, Accord, this GTI is so much more fun to drive. The rattles aside, German cars have a better feel & interior. With the paddle shifting & that instant gear shift is just great!! I mean way more fun & responsive then a jap car or even a beemer. The other factor is that the GTI is something different on the road.. I want to stand out a little in todays world, right....read morehide

- Red is the color to get! Leather seats needs a ventilation system ala Mercedes Benz.
- Sqeaks and radio! Starting hearing squeaks after 5,000 miles. Radio needs upgrading (wattage)
I bought a Rabbit and found out that it didn't have any performance or thrill to it (what do you expect for a $16,000 car) so I discovered My Fast when I test drove a GTI. Loved the car so much that I bought it on the spot! I did take a look at the R32 but it was $7,000 more! On days that I want to pretend I'm on a road in the mountains of Italy, I drive the GTI but when I'm concered about gas prices, it's the Rabbit. One thing, don't mess with any Evo's because you'll get your butt handed to you. German feel that no other small car will give you, plus for the price of a nice 3 series you can get a GTI and a Rabbit so both your fast and your tree hugger egos are satisfied! The rattles are ok but I often find myself with the windows down and the music up! Soon it will be time to trade the Rabbit and I think I'll get a Tiguan or Toureg! I will stick with VW! As for the ratings for comfort, remember it's a "Pocket Rocket" and compare it to other German cars that have the same performance and smile! One more thing; Love to hear that whine of the turbo!...read morehide

- perfomance with decent gas mileage
- none yet
Ive had the GTI 2 weeks and I love it. Test drove Honda Civic EX, Mini Cooper S (loaded with everything), Volvo C30, 2005 BMW 330xi (used with 30k miles). Chose the GTI after I drove it. Had deposit on Volvo C30, but for $alot less I got leather and more room. Im six ft tall and can sit behind my driver seat with plenty of room. The trunk is alot bigger than the Cooper s but smaller than Civic. If you want fuel economy get the Civic, but if you can handle 30-32 mpg on hwy and get a car that was built for the autobahn, Get the GTI. I got the black metallic with 18in wheels and the Autobahn pkg.
Prices: paid invoice for GTI (get another grand off if loyal returning VW owner)..Volvo was willing to go $1000 under invoice (about $3000 off total)....Honda and Mini were not willing to lower their price at all..even though both dealers had huge inventories of cars....read morehide

- Fun to drive, DSG w/ paddle shifters, excellent fuel consumption, appearance
- One spooky rattle that comes and goes. Most of the time it is not there so who cares
Just love this car. From the acceleration and amazing handling to the even more outstanding 27-28 combined mpgs. This car is just cool. The 4 door is very liveable. I'd purchase another one in a heart beat if something bad happened to it.

- This is one of my best car for years
I have about 16,000 on my vw gti 2007 and I have to ask myself why going for the regular's inspection. It is a fantastic car, reliable, fast and lots of fun to drive. In addition, I get questions or compliments in shopping malls and other place from all ages of people. This car reminds me the driving and solidity my father Audi 6. I used my cars mainly for long distance driving. On the highway, I could maintain without any problem a cruise speed of 138kmh. -2 from 140 for speed control in Canada.
I just love my GTI.

- Lots of Room! Huge back seat! comfortable and fairly fast. Excelent engine and beautiful sound.
- questionable reliability.
So happy with this car I can't even describe it. Just one thing to remember, if the engine is cold wait a few minutes for it to warm up before driving. If it's cold the shifts are jerky and the power is unpredictable.
Also it's a little sluggish if you want to accelerate from, say, 60-80 -- but the thrill of 0-40 makes up for that.
Excellent all around car, it'll make a great family car too. :)...read morehide

- DSG Transmission
I am a all time Audi & VW lover, I used to have 1998 VW GTI VR6, and 2003 VW GTI 1.8T 20th Anniversary, and 2004 VW R32 V6. The VR6 has 5 speed manual gearbox. And the other 2 has 6 speed manual gearbox. They are all pretty fast cars and good for me in everyday life. No problems at all after 10,0000 due to the wear and tears...
All right, let's talk about the MKV GTI. This car has the greatest automatic transmission I have ever driven in my life. The gear changing ratio is just perfect. The car is actually a manual gear box with a full automatic. It has 2 clutches in the car. 1st, 3rd and 5th, it has the clutch. And 2nd, 4th and 6th, it has another clutch. And the car will preselect the gear for you. For example if you shift from 1st to 2nd gear, your 1st clutch will automatically shift to 3rd gear and you will be in 2nd gear. The turbo noise sounds pretty cool. I mean it is just a perfect car for either students or adults. If you don't believe me, you should go to a VW dealer, and test drive a manual and a DSG. You will find it out yourself. If GTI isn't enough for you. The new R32 has even better sound and a AWD. If you are a manual geek, just go buy a another car other than a GTI, (older GTI model or a older R32). I think it will be such a waste if you buy a new GTI with a manual. Because the DSG is just perfect, (like a F1)... [I AM A MANUAL DRIVER, THIS IS MY FIRST AUTOMATIC CAR AND I FEEL IN LOVE WITH THIS DSG SYSTEM, TRUST ME, IT IS BETTER] ;]...read morehide
