- Overall power of the car. Fun to drive. Very stylish

I love my 2012 GTI. I've wanted to be apart of the GTI family for many years and when I finally got a chance to purchase my dream car, I did and didn't look back.
The car is amazingly powerful with great jump from any starting line. I'm sort of a crazy driver and have had to avoid a few accidents and my GTI never let me down. Before my GTI, I owned a Mini Cooper, that I loved, but still had cons to go alone with the pros. When writing this review, I couldn't think of one con in GTI.
Great car. Volkswagen of Cherry Hill NJ is amazing as well....read morehide

- High quality, comfortable interior, VERY FUN to drive, easy to shift, nice bluetooth.

The GTI is the best hot hatchback available today. It also may be the best car you will ever own. I average about 25 mpg, mixed driving. I have the 6 speed manual. This is a very fun, smooth shifting, high quality car that does everything you could want a car to do. It reminds me of my old BMW 2002 I had years ago. It is a very nimble car like the Mini Cooper S. I opted for the GTI over the Mini as the ride quality is much better in the GTI over the Mini. Plus the interior of the Mini is of lower quality than the GTI. Yes, the Mini looks good, but when you have to drive the car daily like I do for work on the lousy roads in Los Angeles, the GTI is the better choice....read morehide

- Build Quality, Fun Factor, Features, Gearbox, Value
- Premium Gas

When you climb inside a GTI for the first time, you simply won't believe the quality of the car for the price. I've owned cars that cost $20K more than this one, and the quality is the same or better in the VW.
You sit in amazing bucket seats that support wonderfully. Your hands reach out and grasp one of the best steering wheels I've ever used. The peddles are so cool and functional. And the gearbox (I got the DSG) is like driving a stick, but without the hassle. The computer changes gear for you in 1/10th of a second making it faster AND more fuel efficient than the slightly lighter stick shift. I've never seen a gearbox like it. You get a normal D option, paddle or stick shifting up or down, and a sports mode which is fun albeit expensive on the gas. I have never seen anything like the DSG. Even if you hate auto boxes, you should test drive one, it will amaze you.
Despite being considered a small car in the American market, it doesn't feel small at all once inside. Roomy comfortable, a decent amount of space, fold down seats if you need to carry a lot.
Then there's the fun factor. The engine is smooth and eager to please. Sure, there are faster hot hatches out there, and if you are a boy racer, get one. But that's not what the GTI is about. It's about fun performance, not out and out sports car performance. It's a balance of quality and comfort, ride and handling, performance, yet decent fuel economy.
I am well impressed, and do not regret my purchase at all. This is one amazing car, at an incredible price....read morehide
