When I first saw the GLI I had to have it and I didnt even do research. After comparing the aftermarket tuning options, and stock options I was sold. The 1.8T has amazing potential. With less than 2000 dollars, the owner can easily gain 50-60 WHP. Which translates to about 80-90 at the crank. The suspension is a start however with the purchase of a front and rear sawybar, (about 400 bucks) you will take this car into almost any curve without hesitation. I have owned this car for a little over the year, and keep finding new and inexpensive ways to make this car better or faster.
VW really got a winner with this setup. If you havent owned this vehicle or drove it than you dont know what you are missing. The problem with the squekie brakes was a 30 minute fix by my V Dub dealership.
Hands down for the money, standard options, and possiblities that are inexpensive, VW built a great car for a great price. Do the research against other cars.
Standard things that VW offers, and the inexpensive tuning you can do, will far outweigh what others have to offer.
My GLI even beat a mustang GT
