- really cute body, neat features
- in the shop often, high amount of recalls
I got a 2000 jetta GLS with most of the perks moonroof, disc changer. Now 5 years later and only 21,000 miles I spent more time driving to the shop than to my job or school. I average at least one recall a year, it took 3 months to get my radio repaired (but this is really a dealership issue), and my biggest shock was that when you have to replace the breaks it costs about $400 dollars. What worse was I only drove 18,000 miles at that point and I had to replace the breaks! Plus my airbag on the driver's side have to replaced thankfully under warrenty (approx. $1,200).
The car is cute, but the hidden costs are really high. I would never buy a volkswagon again.
