- Comfortable front seat, good looks, wonderful handling, massive trunk, nice interior.
- Horrible lumbar, worse fuel economy than Japanese counterparts, engine can be a tad bit loud.
My car stickered at $21,600, which I still believe is a great deal. I especially love the handling of the car: it truly turns on a dime. Smooth ride, but still gives good feedback from the road. Feels like I'm on rails. Trunk is the biggest for its class. Also, I believe that for its price-range, it is one of the best looking cars on the road. Gas mileage could be better, but it's not exactly bad either. Can fly if you want it to and has great braking. Interior is better than what I would expect for its price: not exactly a luxury car, but nicer than other cars in its class that I test drove. Especially liked the interior lighting. The driver seat came with power lift and lumber, but the passenger side is manual and it is horrible. So complicated, time consuming, and sometimes downright hard to just lay the seat back. Why VW couldn't just put a lever is beyond me. Instead, there is a ridiculous wheel that is very difficult to turn. Haven't really had mechanical issues and dealership seems to provide great service anyways. My girlfriend loves the seat warmers. Dash controls are amazingly easy to use. Every button is large and clearly labled. Stereo and climate control are extremely easy to learn. Sound system is best factory system I've ever heard. Standard MP3 player jack is a wonderful touch. Leg room in the back seat seems to have been sacrificed some for the large trunk, but it's still not bad. I have had 3 adults sit in the back seat without any real complaints. My best friend who is 6'2", 380 pounds says sitting in the back seat is perfectly comfortable for him. Love the spare tire that's included. Quiet engine when idling, but occasionally gets a tad louder than I'd like when cruising around 70 or 80. Good acceleration. Topped it out at around 120 mph. Brakes don't soften after hard use. Great view points out of rear winshield for reversing and changing lanes. Great view points out of front as well. Rides well in snow, rain, ice, whatever. No weather is a problem. Stability-control can be turned off if you wish, but I normally keep it on as it does not impede my style of driving. The only other minor complaint I have is the it has developed the slightest hint of a rattle in the cabin, although I'm the only one who seems to be able to notice it. My friends and girlfriend think I'm nuts because they don't hear anything. I guess it's because I drive it everyday and know its noises so well. It's not the type of rattler that is loud and can drive you crazy, though. I've been driving it for 24,500 miles thus far and I don't regret buying it over the Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra / Sonata, Toyota Corolla / Camry, Scion tC, whatever Kia has these days, and all the American cars. The only car in its class that I thought was comparable was the Nissan Altima, which is also a very good car. Give it a test drive and see for yourself.
