Great car for the money. I traded my '04 BWM 325i, 3 months ago. The VW is lighter, nimbler and a lot faster. The turbo has power to spare. The 6-speed manual transmission is reasonably smooth, and definitely fun. Heated seats and sunroof are standard. The trunk is surprisingly large and the rear seats fold down. Granted, this is not a BMW in terms of quality, but it costs a lot less, and dollar for dollar, it's a better deal.
I have a couple of small issues: The brakes squeak. I've driven stick for many years and stalling comes as a surprise. I've done it twice in traffic. You've got to put some revs on to move off a dead stop. Several folks have complained about bumping their right knee on the consol, but this has not bothered me at all.
90% of my driving is around town. I'm getting 25 mpg, which is fine.
I bought this car because of the price, and because it handles great and is fun to drive. And it is definitely fun to drive.
