- Comfortable for tall people.

I looked for a car to get me back and forth to work with economy in mind. I am not into lots of bells and whistles. The Jetta was well priced, comfortable and performed will. I also looked at Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt and Toyota Corrola. The American cars were "tinny" with plastic interiors and when closing the doors, they sounded "loose", where the Jetta is tight as a drum. The Corrola was too small. Shortly after purchasing the car, I drove it on an emergency business trip. After 10 hours in the car, I felt fine. At 6'3", I need leg room. The Jetta is more comfortable than our Honda Odyssey and Hyundai Sante Fe on long trips. I have been very disappointed in the gas mileage at 26 MPG for a 5 speed manual transmission and a honest effort to drive at 65 to 70 MPH. Two days after getting the car, I had a right turn signal issue which was addressed by the dealer somewhat quickly (not the car's fault). Since, I have had nothing but great times with about 33,000 miles on the odometer. Would I recommend the Jetta? You bet!...read morehide

- Great handling, torque, fuel economy, and very sharp to look at!

I bought my 2nd VW Jetta, a 2009 Jetta S (automatic), earlier this year, after losing my beloved 2001 VR6 to a collision with a Buick. My first car was a Ford (insert humorous acronym here), but after owning two Volkswagens, I can say that I am a true convert. The look of the MkV Jetta is sharp, and it drives even better. The power band is between 2,500-3,000 RPM, which is a little higher than the old VR6, but once I got used to it, it was fine. Helping in this department is VW's Tiptronic transmission, which means you can shift between 6 gears while in Drive in an automatic. I use it to get up to merging speed on highway on-ramps and to make it up hills...the car will downshift itself at a certain point, but the Tiptronic means you get your power faster. The VW Jetta feels amazing to drive...after driving one of these, everything else just feels like a kid's Power Wheels car. The S is the baseline trim, but it sure doesn't feel any less expensive. The seats are comfortably firm, and hold the driver and passenger(s) in place. The heated side mirrors are a godsend in winter. The front and rear defrosters are also very efficient. My car came with a built-in iPod adapter in the center console...just plug in your iPod, switch the stereo over to CD, and go! I am looking forward to many happy years driving a Volkswagen....read morehide

I love my Jetta! It drives like an expensive car, but for a fraction of the price. It is great in the city because it can go fast quickly when you are getting on and off the highways. It is very roomie and with payments at 355 a month it is a great value!

- Solidly built, high-quality, very good suspension/handling, good engine/transmission/brakes.
- Could use a little more power.
All in all, a solid value. More bang for the buck than any small sport sedan I can think of. Lots of high-end engineering features, such as electric-assist steering, stabilty control, traction control, electronic brake force distribution, etc. Excellent build quality, with a very precise, solid feel. This car is subtle. The inherent quality becomes more and more apparent the longer you own the car. I can't think of an American car that can begin to approach this car's refinement and value, unless you were to spend an additional five or six grand....read morehide

- Great improvement over the 2005 I traded in
- Ride is a little rough
I really love this car, it's the best car I've ever owned and I've owned everything from a Porsche 911SC to SUV's. It's got everything, power, performance, cornering, great stereo and an IPOD jack.

- Great performance and gas mileage while still having a sporty but classy look.
- None so far...
I recently purchased an 09 and what a deal it has been. Not only did we get a great deal pricewise but the car is a great vehicle. It's sporty yet classy and has a lot of room, more than I expected. It handles superbly and is fun to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone from teenager to senior, it's that great!...read morehide
