Purchased As New
I bought my 2nd VW Jetta, a 2009 Jetta S (automatic), earlier this year, after losing my beloved 2001 VR6 to a collision with a Buick. My first car was a Ford (insert humorous acronym here), but after owning two Volkswagens, I can say that I am a true convert. The look of the MkV Jetta is sharp, and it drives even better. The power band is between 2,500-3,000 RPM, which is a little higher than the old VR6, but once I got used to it, it was fine. Helping in this department is VW's Tiptronic transmission, which means you can shift between 6 gears while in Drive in an automatic. I use it to get up to merging speed on highway on-ramps and to make it up hills...the car will downshift itself at a certain point, but the Tiptronic means you get your power faster. The VW Jetta feels amazing to drive...after driving one of these, everything else just feels like a kid's Power Wheels car. The S is the baseline trim, but it sure doesn't feel any less expensive. The seats are comfortably firm, and hold the driver and passenger(s) in place. The heated side mirrors are a godsend in winter. The front and rear defrosters are also very efficient. My car came with a built-in iPod adapter in the center console...just plug in your iPod, switch the stereo over to CD, and go! I am looking forward to many happy years driving a Volkswagen.
