- GAS MILEAGE !! VW's new 2 liter diesel is Outstanding. Great functionality/interior, German feel.
- not thrilled with the passenger side windshield wiper. Driver side is fine.
Purchased As New
Thinking diesel? DO IT. Why? I own an '09 TDI. (same motor, its VW's new, 2.0 ltr common rail diesel) I have 46k miles on it. This is a Great car! EPA rated it @ "41 Hiwy/29 City". What a lie! I could get that if I raced it. I have the 6 speed manual. As the engine gets broke in the mileage is acutually increasing. I REGULARLY BREAK 50-52 MPG on the way to work now (46 miles away) and I can easily get 34-37 city. If you don't have lead foot, and know how to drive for mileage its a great engine for folks who drive a lot. You'll SAVE MONEY. Yeah, I hear it all the time - "Isn't diesel fuel more expensive?" Yes it is, but if you calculate your mileage by cents per mile, you'll find that you're doing significantly better than say, a Honda Civic. Record trip so far is 57.1mpg on the way to work w/crs cntrl set at 60. By the way, in 6th gear@65 its @ 2050rpm-amazing. Ok, what else? I've had zero problems or issues with it. VW says you can go 10K btwn oil changes but I go 5K. Its practical & full of space inside. (unless you're a very big person) Its fun to drive and looks great w/ tinted windows. You may be able to get a tax credit on it. I got a little over a grand back for the year I bought it because its classified as a 'lean burn' engine. I encourage you to go TEST DRIVE A TDI ! Its not a BMW, but its SOLID VALUE for $25-26K. Highway acceleration from 50-80 is like a V-6. *(I'm a 38yo educated, employed adult)
