- exterior and interior look, bluetooth connection, Fender sound system. The fuel mileage is also good.
- Too much sounds and noise from windows, front dash, steering wheel
Purchased As New
I hate the sounds coming from almost every part of the car. The sounds from the left driver doors and other doors, from all windows, from the front dash, from my seat drive me crazy. You would think it is minor, but when you drive on a little bit rough concrete or asphalt road, you will hear symphony of sounds which overtake the music playing. Very very aggravating. Lately, my steering wheel began to make noise each time I turn it left or right. I just had my wife to listen to the steering wheel sound and she was very very frustrated^^^. I don’t blame her.
In addition, when you try to stop the car from 30-40mph to zero, the brakes are very very weak and I have to apply all the force I have in my foot on the brake pedal in order to have the car stopped. The brakes from 65-80mph to 40 or 50mph are strong.
Another problem is that it is extremely difficult to get in and out from the car. You will always heat your shoe/feet to the car’s floor side. The floor side is U-shape as in any car, but the vertical part of the floor is too high. Baddd design.
It is clear that something is screwed up badly during manufacturing. Well, my guess would be that the connections between different parts are very weak and loose (not tightened enough for whatever reason). Therefore, all these symphony of noises happen. Who knows how the employees are handling the connections during assembly.
Another issue I have is that the navigation screen is really small and you cannot have live traffic on the navigation. It is just not available for Jetta SEL . The navigation is very simple but I must say that it is really very very responsive. It is very quick.
I really feel bad that VW managed to create a beautiful car but with little manufacturing/parts quality.
In future car, I am planning to buy an Audi even though they are owned by VW, but I am hoping that Audi’s are built little bit more solidly....read morehide

- Cheapened to the point of being an 80's Korean car
Purchased As Not Purchased
Having owned a 2006 and 2008 Jetta SEL, I can only say that this car is a big disappointment to loyal VW owners. All the fit and finish is gone, as are so many previous VW exclusive extra features now deleted. All to reach a larger customer base at the expense of real VW owners. They made a less expensive, but "cheap" feeling car compared to the last generations of Jetta. My 08 feels like a BMW - this one has the feel and finish of an 80's Korean car. Doors close with a tinnyness I haven't seen since the days of the Vega. There is no longer a power seat option, the trunk is no longer lined, the armrest is fixed and too many other deletions and the car has an overall cheap feel to the materials. Buy a Kia if you like this sort of "feel" in a car. The German it and finish is gone. These cars were great BMW alternatives. No longer, you have to go to BMW or Audi S4 (at about 15K more to get the same feel as the previous Jetta. VW - you BLEW IT!!!!!! You lost me as a buyer in the future if this is the garbage you are going to make....read morehide
