- Great performance, amazing build quality, beautiful styling, great tech, good fuel economy
- a fair amount of understeer, little too much body roll, overpowers front wheels on occasion
Purchased As New
I bought this car while also considering the 2012 Subaru WRX, the Hyundai Genesis coupe, and the Ford Focus ST. In the end, I was completely won over by the graceful, powerful styling (you really need to see it in person) and the incredible quality of the interior. While the other cars were loud and "boy-racerish", the GLI was graceful and only gets loud and nasty when you push it. In addition, $600 dollars gets you an APR stage 1 and lets you push 300 foot-pounds of torque below 2000 rpm. It is truly a beautiful car, the Autobahn trim level brings in really good interior tech, and it still has a fantastic personality for the weekends.I should also add that I am 6'4", 280 pounds with three kids( one in a car seat) and we all fit comfortably on midrange trips, including plenty of trunk space. In my opinion, probably one of the best cars you can buy around the $26K mark....read morehide

- Good pick up, comfortable ride, incredibly sleek looking, amazing gearbox
- Too much roll over in hard turns

The GLI gives the classy Jetta a sporty distinguished look that is very nice. I am very happy with the car and would definitely recommend this car to anyone. I test drove the Camry V6, Accord V6, Optima and Sonata; in the end, I felt the Jetta was the most fun to drive and visually it just looks the classiest of the aforementioned vehicles. Also, the 6 speed manual option in the GLI is simply amazing. So much smoother than the WRX. By far my favorite part about the car. I am debating whether or not to get some sway bars installed. If I do, I feel it will easily resolve the rollover issue when taking a tight turn....read morehide
