Purchased As New
Honestly, I was looking to lease a new car after owning a Suzuki Sx4 for the last 5.5 years. I've never owned a VW before, but have always thought them to be classy looking cars. The 2013 VW JETTA SE 2.5 does not disappoint. I test drove this SE convenience package and was immediately turned on to the leatherette seating, sirius radio, bluetooth (which I highly recommend to any car owner buying a new vehicle). I can stream my music wirelessly throughout the vehicle. The sound system is amazing - I amp up my music and feel like I'm on the dance floor. Overall, this is a sport car that is agile and gets you the speed you need when you want it. (S)port drive is fun, but can decrease MPG, so I try to use it conservatively.
I researched cars for 6 months or so, and also took a look at honda civic, ford focus, nissan altima, and hyundai velostar.
The new jetta is timeless - classy dash (nothing that is going to throw any of your passengers for a loop) The general response I get when my friends jump in the vehicle is overwhelmingly positive. The jetta, although considered a compact feels like a mid-level sedan and definitely gives you that space you need. Trunk provides ample room.
I have only had it for a little while, so my review is not comprehensive by any means, but I am extremely happy with my choice.
I leased for 3.5 yrs / 42 mos. This probably won't be the only VW I own.
If you can afford the CC model (starts leasing around $300 mo.), I would recommend test driving that.
If you are looking for a family car - the passat would fill your needs. Larger, less sporty, but still has that classy feel.
I went into this thinking I would be happy with the base model - "S" and came away with the SE w/ convenience and pretty happy I did.
