- Cute, good fuel economy, nice interior for a cheap car
- Ride is waaay too rough, slow
Purchased As Used
I bought my Beetle as a used car with low miles. I liked the car's personality, high quality interior (for an 'inexpensive' model) and it handled well. It also was great in snow/bad weather. On the other hand, the ride was extremely hard and you felt larger bumps throughout the structure. The engine was weak and the transmission was always struggling to keep it on boil (I had an automatic). It actually drove pretty well on the highway provided you didn't need to pass much. I finally got rid of it because the harsh ride was not my cup or tea, despite the fact that it was a good, reliable car that I still was attracted to (the ride was that bad).
Overall, I would suggest that the New Beetle is a good car for young people or perhaps seniors who don't drive far.
