I started looking at the Passat because I wanted a TDI, but you can’t find one on the lot. Compaired this car to the Hundi Sonata and the Toyota Camry. This car is larger than both and far better equipped for the money. I bought the 2.5 SE 5 speed manual and the performance is adequate as opposed to the Auto, which is a little slow. Most of my driving is highway, so the manual does not bother me. What is very impressive is; I have gone 600 mile on one tank of gas! Averaging 34 MPG doing 72 MPH.

This was the only car in the price range that had blue tooth, leather (yes, I know, V-tex & heated seats). I have two Toyota’s (Solara & Venza) and have owned an Avalon and Prius and all were very good cars. But, none of them have been nearly as much fun to drive. In fact, driving this car reminds me of our Mazda Miata, slow off of the line, great handling and a high top end speed, except this car has a big back seat with lots of leg room, two extra doors and a big trunk.

We just took our first road trip in the Passat TDI and got 48.5 MPG. Overall we are impressed with the TDI engine. Very quiet for a diesel, good acceleration , tons or torque. VW got this one right. Better than anything Detroit is coming up with and I had swore I'd never buy a foreign car! But hey, this one is assembled in Chattanooga, TN....read morehide

I really like the style of this car because it's different than what's available within this price range. I use this car to go back and forth to work and the overall ride is good. The use of regular gas and the combined 27 mpg makes me very happy. I've always been a fan of German cars and knowing this is made in TN made me support VW all the more. Good car for the value and the conservative styling makes this car stand out over the Japanese cars that are on the road. Fit and finish are ok, but with a price reduction, I believe VW did the best they could. I would sacrifice this feature over price....read morehide

This is the first brand new vehicle I have ever purchased and could not be happier with it. I get above advertised fuel economy (running 45-50 mpg), but I also drive conservatively to maximize this aspect. I opted for the manual transmission for the gear head inside me, plus the reliability and better fuel economy. The gearing is rather difficult to get used to, mainly because it is extremely short. This is not a problem, just an adjustment. The low RPM torque makes the car UBER responsive in the lower gears and the turbo, while not snappy in 5th and 6th gear does give a noticeable acceleration boost. The 140 HP is kind of meager, but not really a detriment. The features are awesome, definitely more bang for your buck, especially with the blue tooth networking. With a smart phone, navigation is a breeze without paying extra for an in dash version. The appearance is conservative, but crisp and respectable. My model had some minor QC problems, namely improperly glued trim on the driver side passenger door. Already fixed by warranty. Also a minor rattle on the sunglass holder, fixed by the dealer by adjusting the drawer. Only 1600 miles on the car so far, so reliability is still up in the air, but so far so good!...read morehide

Car looks great I went with dark blue and light interior the car looks great even better with the tinted windows and after i changed the lights to xeone. I bought my car on 9/22 and I have yet to see another Passat on the road maybe because of the $3,000 dealer mark up here in SoCal.
