2007 Volkswagen Passat Wagon
There are 30 user reviews for the 2.0T trim shown below
- Safe and gets the kids where they need to go when it's not in the shop
- Bad electronics, sensors and idiot warning lights, clunking sound in front end
I am already back looking for another car. As much as I like the looks of the Passat Wagon, I'm going to "cut and run" and find something more reliable.
I have had the car for only eight months now and I'm afraid to take it on longer trips because I do not want to be left stranded.
I've done some research which says VW service is about the worst in the industry. My dealership in Virginia is inadequate because we've been in about seven times and what a hassle it is to be told "we think we've found the problem" and a week later it reappears or something else happens.
Like a couple of the other reviewers, I notice a pronounced clunking noise in the front end of the car. I am going to have that checked out, too. Bad suspension? Who knows....
All I know is I will never buy another VW again, no matter how much the car magazines say they look good. My wagon ought not have been put up for sale....read morehide

- Sound construction, fuel economy, overall drivability, styling
- None yet
After reading quite a few previous reviews I began to have concerns about this car and almost chose not to select it. In the end however I bought the Passat 2.0T Wolfsburg Edition and it so far has blown away my expectations. Although the veh. is a bit pricier than other vehicles in the mid-size catagory I have found that it has been worth every penny. This car has the look and feel of a much higher end veh. and easily rivals the quality of lower end "luxury" vehicles. I have found that the fit and finish of this car is excellent; the interior and options are layed out logically and I don't agree with some of the others that the materials seem "cheaper" than previous versions. Driving the car has proven to be a nice surprise too. The car feels "sound" and substancial; it seems heavy. Having never driven a veh. with a turbo before I was surprised with how good the pick up was. If you are a "car guy" or a mechanical engineer you might notice the "turbo lag" so many people have discussed however I didn't. In short, the though of picking a domestic or Japanese veh. over the Passat is laughable! For the record I am just an average guy with NO auto industry connections or ax to grind agains any manufacturer. The Passat is a GREAT car for the money!...read morehide

- Stiff Ride, Creaky Suspension, Bad dealer.
I bought a Package 2 wagon with 17" wheels, and thought it was a great deal. HOWEVER, I am not totally convinced that the dealer didn't sell me a lemon. The entire front end creeks when going over speed bumps as if the car is a rusty old horse wagon and the power steering shakes. As far as engineering goes, the car cannot be driven over 15mph with the rear window open without a very powerful air vacuum that hurts the eardrum (bad news for dog owners). On top of that, the dealer strong armed me into an alarm that I don't want, and refused to process my payment (paid cash) without payment for the alarm. I am still fighting to get my money back. Next time I'll avoid Volkswagen, especially the Koeppel dealership....read morehide

- Great craftmanship, good power in 2.0T engine, comfortable and practical
- Electric parking brake failure in cold weather, dealership service inadequate
In general terms, the Passat Station Wagon is a good buy. Cons are that my vehicle had a defective sound system speaker (passenger door) and one of its big computers (the one controlling the speed control, parking brake and who knows wat else) needed replacement. Now the parking brake fails whenever there is cold weather and the VW dealership in Charlottesville, VA (Flow) is too incompetent to deal with the problem. I will try with another dealership in Staunton, about 40 miles from here. This car is extremely dependent on computers, but at the same time it is a good drive....read morehide

- Fuel Economy, Styling, Perfomance, Seat Ergonomics, Interior Lighting
- Console is too thick and crowds my right leg. Poor FM Stereo
I've owned the car for one year now. We've had some problems with electronic door hatch and a mysterious "steering column warning." The stereo on radio mode is absolutely atrocious. It sounds like AM. Aside from that, I love the style and perfomance and interior feel. It's a tricked out wagon and I enjoy driving it. It's fast and furious with a little temper at times....read morehide

- I'm BACK! AFter 20K miles
- RATTLES LIKE A BOX OF ROCKS - FRONT END SUSP SQUEAKS ALL THE TIME
Ok, I posted here earlier at 9K - The front end suspension started squeaking as soon as the warm weather went away - been to dealer twice - 1st time, told normal noise (right!), second time it was the struts(imagine!) still squeaks ALLLL THE TIME! - Interior of the vehicle simply rattles everywhere, unless you are driving on glass. VW Dealer and Corporate could care less about their customer issues. Don't even know why the customer service lady at our dealer here bothers to call me, what I tell her never gains reaction of any sort. This ist he second VW in 1.5 years and the LAST...Spend the extra buck and buy yourself a BMW - I've had tremendous luck driving down that road....read morehide

- Good Mileage, nice ride for a wagon
- controls, electrical issues
We have had this car for 8 months now, It does ride nice and gets good highway gas mileage. City driving does not seem to add up to the sticker, we are getting in the 17-19mpg range. Safety features are a real plus. We have already had it in for some electrical kinks and this is NOT a vehicle I would want to own with out a warranty. This is our first VW and it seems like they try to out think themselves, they make some fancy gadgets but fall short on the things that really matter (door locks, wiper controls etc.)....read morehide

- Luxury Package 2 puts this in a MB/BMW class at a fraction of the $$
- Finicky auto window wiper system
Moving up from a 2000 Saturn SW-2 to a fully loaded Passat Variant was like hitting the lottery! VW hit a home run with the redesign and new option packages. The 2.0T has more than enough power for my needs while getting excellent MPG. So many safety features helps put me and family at ease. Excellent visability all around. Plenty of rear passenger room. Wish VW had made it easier to hook up a trailer wiring (Euro version has an adapter, US market does not - yet). The Passat Variant is a sleeper which is a great value for the money and will provide the driver with many enjoyable miles. The few minor problems are easily resolved by the 3 year warranty coverage....read morehide

- Good Fuel economy, high tech.
- Could be quieter, no tinted glass
If you drive on crowded city road, you shouldn't drive. I drive almost
freeway, it's shows you good performance.
I drive 50miles a day(10miles city, 40miles freeway). Even I drive
70mph-80mph on freeway, average MPG is over 30mpg.
If you drive no signal local road, it's gonna be more !!
I used to dirve SUV(3000cc V6), I paid $100 more for gas in
each month, even it was regular fuel. Despite it has turbo engine
great mileage! It is great tecnology !...read morehide
