- Build quality, fuel economy
- Oil changes are tedious, poor power
I have had an 03 Passat for about 1.5 years now. I have mixed feeling about it. The man tranny is great, but the power is poor; the leather is decent, but I have not found the seats very comfortable for long trips (6+ hours); the maintenance is hard to do myself due to placement and covers and the cost to have it done is outrageous too. I have now found one real advantage to this car over any other one I have driven, it handles very well in snow. I was VERY impressed with its ability to right the "oops" in my snow driving. For 18 mon I have said little good about the car (not that anything was terrrible, just ho-hum/blah) and now I can actually write comething good. I have not had it in for any service and its pushing 25K miles now. avg cost per mile is about 15 cents and that includes ins, taxes, lic fees, gas, oil.. everything.
