2006 Volkswagen Phaeton

- Subtle styling; extraordinarily comfortable seats. Fit and finish are excellent
- Minor circuitry problems cause warning lights to appear from time to time.
The Volkwagen Phaeon is a stylish, subtle, unobtrusive car for those who want power and performance but are happy to let others get all the glory. The W12 handles immaculately in traffic or cruising out on the freeway. The interior is magnificent, with possibly the best front seats this side of a Rolls Royce. There is something special about the fit and finish that catches people's eye, and after a second glance it becomes evident that this is more than a "Passat on steroids". Understated and classy. Friends who have either S Class Mercs or 7-Series BMW's are mighty impressed. Compliments go well beyond "this is awesome for a Volkswagen"...but more along the lines of "this is an awesome care. PERIOD." I bought mine previously owned and there is truly a sense of value. I dont know if I would spend 95-100 grand for it, but if you can find one for below 75, then rest assured you are getting a ton of car for your money.
I have had a few minor electronics issues that has required me to bring the car into the shop. Nothing actually the matter, but some circuitry issues caused warning lights to appear on the dash.
NAV System--mediocre at best. Nice that it comes standard, but it really pales in comparison to the Japanese offerings.
Window control located too far forward on the driver side door which makes it very awkward to operate.
