- Good looks and a fun car to drive!
- The interior is a bit less sound proof compared with our Mercedes, no biggie.
This is a real fun car to drive. The car looks great and really has no rival from Japan. We drove them all the VW first and no Toyota, Nissan or Mitsubishi compared. We love the bright silver color and, the hatchback makes this our little SUV. The VW dealership was more attractive than any of the others visited....read morehide

- Affordable, Solid, TONS of features, Love the Gauges, Size, Rideablity
- only a few minor things, wish it offered Navigation. I would pay $1000 for it
I LOVE THIS CAR!!
My other half and I had been looking to purchase a new car for about a year and we had done a lot of test driving. We checked out the Hyundai Sonata fully loaded, the Scion tC fully loaded, the Chevy HHR fully loaded, Toyota Corolla fully loaded, Honda Accord fully loaded, Ford Fusion fully loaded, I can't even remember all the cars we test drove (I still have all the brochures for each of them). There was one thing I noticed with all these cars... I always had something BIG that I felt I would have to settle for or get used to in them. Like the tC I would have to settle for the fact I felt claustrophobic (i'm 6'2" and have broad shoulders), the HHR I would have to settle for the limited visibility and the lack of performance... and so on..
When we first test drove the 2006 Rabbit, I did not feel I had to settle for anything. Nothing felt gimmicky nothing was out of place. Everything in it belongs in it without feeling like you're lacking anything.
I heard some people complaining about the 2.5L engine...and let's just say... I personally own a convertible GT mustang 5.0 Litre...with a LOT of horsepower... and I found the Rabbit to be a far superior driving car. Even though there is less horsepower this car takes off without effort. You can be doing 80-90 mph and not feel like it. (I should know, when we went to the Coast the weekend after we bought it I thought iw as doing 40 and was actually doing 90). So don't let those people tell you "oh it's so slow, it has no performance" because we did our homework on this one.
We ended up purchasing a 2007 4 door rabbit, shadow blue, anthracite interior with the upgraded automatic transmission, Electronic stability programming and the power sunroof. I LOVE THIS CAR!
Definitely put this on your list. It's young and sporty with a maturity you can only find in German engineering. (And the Aux input is in the glovebox upper right corner..lil white box with a hole, not the Air Conditioning hole in the back...silly people)...read morehide

- Size look price along with the ride and room on the inside.
- No light in glove box and small rattle at times in dash.
Love my car, had her about a week (my second car) I didnt have to settle on anyhting with it, all I wanted I got, which was an issuse with others. Gave co-woker ride home and first thing out of her mouth when she go in was "oh my god it's bigger then I thought!!" Very few con's, none of which are that big a deal, no light in glove box, small rattle in dash and moonroof when open can sometimes make a loud chopter over head type sound. LOVE THIS CAR!!...read morehide

- Excellent Safety Features, Very Powerful engine, Gas mileage so far 32 in city
- Nothing negative, except for the sales rep
I have researched and have purchased almost all makes out there. By far the Rabbit has supassed all my expectations. It handles like a dream. It has an extremely quite ride compared to comprable cars out there. I am very happy buying my Rabbit, it's 4-door black.

- POWERFUL ENGINE, FAIR PRICED, NICELY STYLED, COMFORTABLE
- NOT INFLATED HP/ FUEL ECONOMY LIKE OTHERS; READ OTHER REVIEWS
I bought one after testing and there is no comparison to the power of the engine, the comfort of the seats and suspension (suspension of German cars are way ahead of the Japanese), the nice styling of Volkswagen (which is the biggest automaker in Europe and owns Audi-the higher end car) and the price is fair compared with the higher priced Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans....read morehide

- Nice interior, feels substantial compared to Japanese cars, good standard features
- Weak and inefficient engine
Test drove a 4 door Rabbit this weekend with the 2.5L engine and the 5 speed manual. The car itself is pretty nice with a great interior and good standard features. The manual shifted well compared to older VWs (I have a 2000 Jetta VR6, which shifts like a truck) Standard heated seats are nice on an 18K car. I was looking at the 4 door with the 16" alloys, which you can pick up for around 18K. However, the engine on this car is a deal breaker. VW has a good opportunity with this car, but in my opinion the engine is not up to par. It is a 5 cylinder 2.5 L engine that only makes 150HP and gets 22/30 MPG. In comparison, engines from Honda and Toyota of the same size produce more HP and get better gas mileage in bigger cars (eg 160HP 26/34 MPG in the 4cyl Accord). I would not recommend this car or any other VW with the 2.5L engine....read morehide
