2007 Volkswagen Rabbit User Reviews

- Nice interior, feels substantial compared to Japanese cars, good standard features
- Weak and inefficient engine
Test drove a 4 door Rabbit this weekend with the 2.5L engine and the 5 speed manual. The car itself is pretty nice with a great interior and good standard features. The manual shifted well compared to older VWs (I have a 2000 Jetta VR6, which shifts like a truck) Standard heated seats are nice on an 18K car. I was looking at the 4 door with the 16" alloys, which you can pick up for around 18K. However, the engine on this car is a deal breaker. VW has a good opportunity with this car, but in my opinion the engine is not up to par. It is a 5 cylinder 2.5 L engine that only makes 150HP and gets 22/30 MPG. In comparison, engines from Honda and Toyota of the same size produce more HP and get better gas mileage in bigger cars (eg 160HP 26/34 MPG in the 4cyl Accord). I would not recommend this car or any other VW with the 2.5L engine.
