2013 Volkswagen Tiguan
There are 2 user reviews for the 2.0T SEL 4Motion trim shown below
- Attractive car, Interior, Sunroof.
- Transmission, Drivers Seat, AC/Heat Vents, Gas Mileage not so great
Purchased As New
Good car overall. I purchased/leased the new 2013 Sel/4Motion model. The reason I actually got the 4Motion was its the ONLY way to get the upgraded stereo! (Stupid!) I'm somewhat sorry I did that as the radio is just OK IMO and the 4Motion gets less gas mileage than the standard FWD and has/had some transmission issues. (the VW dealership had to install a software upgrade which made the transmission shift correctly) My biggest complaint on this vehicle after driving for 1 year is the AC/Heat vents that are on the dashboard. They DON'T SWIVEL!! You always have heat or AC being aimed directly in your eyes/face and its maddening! VW cheaped out on this for sure. Otherwise though, the car is fine and has been a solid performer on the road with no other issues whatsoever....read morehide

- Fun to drive. Real decent gas mileage. Super handling. High class build quality
- Noisy at lower speeds. Very Stiff ride. Some weird gearing programming.

The Tiguan is truthfully a different breed. Most of that statement is commendable but the other part most anybody will have to be ready to adapt to. Houston's concrete expressways offer the best conditions for breaking new Tiguan drivers in. Stiff might even be a polite word but will be the first that rolls off the palate of the 13 4-mo Tiguan. Having come out of a V8 Jeep GC 4x4, the Tiguan will surprise and challenge serious off-roaders to reassess the 4-grip combined with class German sophistication.
It will rattle your mom's teeth but whatever short lived irritation it might bring you, it will easily exceed in rewarding you with responsive handling and turbo-power thrill. The SE and SEL have all the gizmos and the cabin controls are operator friendly. IMHO, the most fun you can have in this class but it does reflect that in it's pricier tag than far less competent competitors. I like the understated style too. While everybody else is building the rocket ship cut look design, VW shows some genuine individuality. Materials in the car are high grade and not plastiky like some of the other popular big names. You will be impressed....read morehide
