2005 Volkswagen Touareg
There are 13 user reviews for the V8 trim shown below
- Best looking and best trimmed out SUV on the market. Superb attention to details
- Extremely rough ride. Worst gas guzzler imaginable in V8 version. Everything that could go wrong .
After owning my new Touareg for 8 days it would not start. The dealer tried to fix the problem. After 30 days of trying, VW finally agreed to replace the vehilce.
The replacement car had a leaking windshield. Back to the dealer. Then a headlight wouldn't work. Back to the dealer. Then the computer said there was a defective tire. BACK TO THE DEALER. It wasn't defective. Then the computer said the tire was flat. It wasn't. Back to the dealer o fix the computer.
By now I had the car for 6 months and had visited the dealer more than 30 times.
I called VW and after much stress ... got them to accept the car back from me ... no strings attached.
This model was realeased to early. By far it was the WORST car that I ever owned ... by far.
Never again VW ... never again.

- The styling, handling, and the INTERIOR is awesome. Touareg should have a higher price tag on it.
- Gas mileage could be a little better but its comparable to other V8's out there.
I have an 05' Touareg V8. FULLY LOADED!!!. I left my 03' Acura MDX Touring and looked into the Lexus LX470, BMW X5, MBZ ML55 and finally the Porsche Cayenne before buying the Touareg.
All four UTE had something in common that the Touareg didn't have, NOT ENOUGH VALUE for the $$$$. For starters a comparably equipped LEXUS and and MBZ would run me around mid to north of 70K and the X5 around mid to high 60K. The best deal Porsche offred me for a loaded Cayenne turbo was in the neighborhood of 82K. WOW!!! thats a lot of vacations and other things that I can do with 27K-34K. I know, I know, the name and reputation, and ultimately you get what you pay for. But wait, if the UTE looks good, feel good, and perfoms well when you drive it, and have all of the luxurious comfort and features like the other more (a lot more) expensive UTE's have, what wrong with the picture. I have driven them all and seriously considered them, but to dish out 34K more for a simple Porsche crest, or even additional 27K so that I can say that I drive a "bimmer" is hardly enough of a reason to purchse the four that I have mentioned. Don't get me wrong, they are nice SUV's but if you want value and more BANG for your $$$ visit your local VW dealer, you won't be disappointed. Sure its VW first attempt in the luxury market, but SUV of the year in 04' the first time around.... They have to have done something right, don't you think!!!! Forget what VW was but begin to think of what VW is. Trust me when you drive one you'll fall in love with it... Think of all the road trip vacation you can plan with all the money you can save... My wife describes the Touareg in one word "Perfection"...read morehide
