- MPG, SHOP TRIPS,......
YEs, I am 14 yrs old and work with cars, the problesm most of you are having, the same happens with most other Volkwagens, my firned has a Jetta that only gets about 15/17 Mpg. We have an Explorer XLT that get about 17/20 mpg. VW uses a turbo diesel engine that uses more power and burns more gas. Saftey for VW's are always standard. NICE. thats alllllll...read morehide

- I love this car. It looks great and runs great. I have not had any problems with this car.
- Rough on gas...but it is a V8.
This SUV is the best I've had. It rivals my X5 in performance. I think it looks better than the X5.

- A vehicle which looks good but cannot pass a garage. Volkswagen does not respond to complaints.
- Each month a new problem with a week or more to fix it.
These vehicles are fast out of the chute, but, the reliability is not there. I have written about this car on other web sites and have never found my comments printed. Probably the web master is incredulous that a car could be so difficult. My wife and I drive it to recover depreciation. However, we have a back up for it when it is in the shop. Recently, VW gave us a loaner car we were there so frequently. Why not just fix the car? Most recent adventure was to hook my boat up to the car and pull. A new surprise!. No electrical connection. The most recent surprise is "the electrical connection does not work.... why should that be a surprise... it should be expected. Should I invoke the lemon law? It is not that simple in Tennessee. Fortunately, I did not sign the abritration agreement at the time of purchase.... I should have realized this was a bad vehicle when arbitration papers are requested. I should have walked but I was drunk with dismay that Saturday Tennesse was defeated in football that afternoon by Vanderbilt....read morehide

- nimble, AWD, better than avergage gas milage for a V8 4WD, trim is nice
- brakes squeal, unexplainable noises in the trunk. Must be a rocket scientist to figure out the spare
brake line on the trailer hitch dont work. Dealer looked at it twice. Radio went out within 2 weeks of buying new, It took 7 weeks to replace it. Gas door lock broken within 5 months. Several trim pieces had to be replaced because they didnt fit right. I dont want to sound like the car is a piece. The car is what you expect from a German engineered car. Tight, clean, compact and tuned. I love it.
I also pull my 28' foot boat with it and people stop me all the time and ask if I have trouble with it. NO. It pulls as well, if not better than my Tahoe did. With better gas milage...read morehide

- Fast, strong, elegant, loaded, durable and very capable; 4-way climate controls; 6-spd tran; tow cap
- In-dash Nav system can't play music CDs and not very user friendly, no Sat radio
I've owned one of the first '04 V8 models in CA and it had problems. After 18 months of problems VW upgraded it to a FULLY LOADED '05 model and added $8000 in extra options FREE OF CHARGE!
I tow a 7,500 lb toyhauler trailer through 110 degree deserts and 8,500' mtn ranges - no sweat! This is truely an impressive piece of work.
It has many extra features on-board that really come in handy like the 6 speed tranny - great for towing - and the 4-way climate control - great for 100+ degree days.
Engine power is more than sufficient with the 315 ponies, even when towing a heavy load.
Handling is excellent with the 4-way pneumatic suspension - very sports car like - and it comes in handy when launching a boat to raise the car above the water on the launch ramps. Stability and performance is also excellent - 4motion all-wheel drive handles deep sand, water, ice/snow and steep terrain well.
Luxury is also up to par with the big dogs like BMW, MB, Lexus.
Everyone who rides in my Touareg is very impressed and so am I. With this car I truely feel that I'm getting MORE than I paid for! I only wish the V10 diesel was available in CA in 2005 - it would be a nice upgrade for towing at the 7,716 lb limit....read morehide

- Smooth, quiet ride. Handles like a dream. Lots of gadgets.
- Gas mileage, sliding armrest covers cupholders.
I only have 1200 miles registered on my Touareg but I love every minute that I'm in it. After driving many SUV's, a short test ride in the Touareg was all it took. I was impressed the first mile I drove it. Such a smooth, quiet, solid ride. A true luxury vehicle. It's worth the extra gas that it uses....read morehide

Love all the options, heated stearing wheel, true keyless entry, etc... I wish I didn't have so many issues. It's in the shop a lot!

- the ride is the best
I think vw has done a very good jobe wih this car and that bmw and mercedes have no chance of overstanding toureg do to its impozant stature and to its overal qualities that match the comfort of a luxury class car performance of a speed sedan and overall performances better after my opinion than the bmw's x5 and mercedes m-klass.I also think that it should be vald at a bit more than it alreday is and that the ingineers from the main west german plants o vw should think at a few caracteristi etails of this marvellous SUV that stands brave in front of any other car and probably over takes it especially of thyatcar is an SUV . My personal favorite is the W12 2006 vw touareg with all the peformance packages that you could need from an SUV like this and off -road peformances bette than both of the biggest ivals who are bmw x 5 and mecedes m - class ....read morehide
