2007 Volkswagen Touareg
There are 10 user reviews for the V10 TDI trim shown below
- Awesome power and mileage
- Not cheap, or much storage, but worth it
There is so much torque, it is hard to believe how much this thing weighs. It is very possible to beat pretty much any sports car off the line! The mileage is better than all but the smallest SUV's including alot of hybrids. I average better than 23 mpg hwy and city combined, and have achieved almost 27 mpg on long trips! Lots of power and good mileage too! The looks one gets when pulling up to the diesel pump are also fun. Towing with this diesel is interesting, power wise it hardly seems there is anything behind you!
The keyless options are also very nice! All that is needed is to have the key near. This allows you to lock/unlock and start the engine by just pushing a button. All without even touching a key or key fob. Then to top it off, the styling is good too....read morehide

- Power - - - but pleae read below.
- BE AWARE!! Steering wheel off- center over 1" seat alignment, rattles, noises, some dated technology
Big big problem.....Defective front seat alignment - does not line up with steering wheel. The steering wheel is over 1 inch to the left of center!!!!!
I am writing car review for Touareg. I am now in my 2nd V-10 Twin Turbo Diesel Touareg (THE FIRST ONE I DROVE FOR 100 MILES BEFORE IT HAD ELECTRICAL MELTDOWN) Even after spending $60,000 and owning the car for two days and driving it just 100 miles, VW tried to force it on me after it had been in the shop for almost a month, turned out it took 7 weeks to fix car and after 30 days in the shop, it qualified for a LEMON and they were forced to give me a new car.
This is such a long story and dont want to bore you with all the details but I bought the car at Commonwealth in Santa Ana CA and between them and VW corporate, it has been a nightmare. The Service Manager at Commonwealth is the only person worth mentioning that is decent human being
Please know I LOVED this car and in my opinion, there is not another SUV on the market that looks, as good but please do not buy this car on looks alone because you will be terribly disappointed.
BE AWARE: BE AWARE: BE AWARE: BE AWARE:
THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT LINE UP WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT OR THE DASHBOARD GAUGES!!!!!
ONCE YOU START DRIVING CAR, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE BACK AND SHOULDER PAIN BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. IF YOU DOUBT WHAT I AM SAYING, JUST GO SIT IN ONE, THEY ARE ALL THIS WAY AND VW IS DENYING IT. THEY SAY IT IS WITHIN SPEC BUT THE SPEC IS WRONG. THE AIRBAGS ALSO COULD FAIL YOU BECAUSE YOURE NOT SITTING STRAIGHT....
I have retained an attorney and contacted LA Times and all the automotive magazines to try and get the word out to potential buyers. Problem is you dont notice it on a short test-drive, it is only when you start driving for a couple hours a day you start getting all the symptoms. I will fight until the end. VW Corporate up to this point has snubbed me and offered no solution to the problem and I have a so-called luxury vehicle that when I drive, I am totally uncomfortable.
If you want more info, just email me, I am happy to explain this and many other issues like brakes squeak, doors rattle, and parts pop-off easily, etc If you buy this car, you better buy the bumper-to-bumper insurance and plan on going back and forth to the dealer a lot. Feel free to email me if you would like more info!...read morehide

- Great milegae for towing, 17mpg, Nothing rides better, More power than a teenage boy can use
- Rated to tow 7700, but can easily tow more, needs a better audio system
This a the best of the best. It's a big powerful left lane sedan in sport mode, and a smooth euro lux crusier in comfort. I even take it off the ranch roads and get it dirty when the wife is looking. This thing is nice through and through. I tow a horse trailer and 2 horses at 85mph and still get 17mpg and it never breaks a sweat....read morehide

- Outstanding power, great styling, superb interior
I have owned my 2007 V10 TDI for one month - previously owned a 2004 Touareg V8 - loved it despite it's annoying minor problems. There is no comparison between the two. The V10 finish, fit and trim are excellent. The diesel provides very good city mileage ~ 20 mpg. Used to get 11 mpg around town with the V8. The V10 has good handling and has no trouble pulling an 8000lb boat. Love the new iPod connection too. DVD navigation good too. The teak leather seats look good and are very comfortable - a little lacking in lateral support though. Superb sound system. Got to love the automatic tail gate as well.
A little expensve - yes , but a great drive....read morehide

- Phenomenal power, comfort, good mileage
- Almost too many bells and whistles, beeps and dings
I've owned a 2007 TDI for about 1 month now. So far, I'm extremely impressed and pleased with the purchase. I'm getting about 20mpg with mostly city driving and some time on the highway. Love the fact that I can drive around unnoticed and blend in with the other touaregs on the road without the ego trip of a mercedes/bmw/porsche, but superior performance.
The only thing I hate is the seatbelt ding, which starts as soon as you start the car or unbuckle, even when parked....read morehide

- Handling- esp. off road, power, comfort
- turbo lag, electricals, tyre wear, oil changes
Within the first week of owning the t'reg, the horn malfunctioned. I've now covered over 15,000km/ 10,000 miles in 6 months of owning it. The a/c is busted- another malfuction, so have the directional lights. The oil changes are frequent and the tires have just been replaced. In spite of these problems I love this car. The V10 engine is wonderful and a pleasure to drive in the Himalayas. Has saved me from what could have been a terrible accident on one occasion....read morehide

- BEST SHAPE WITH APPEALLING LOOK, QUALITY BUILD, GOOD HANDLING
- PRICE A LITTLE HIGH!
THE BEST SUV FOR THE MONEY, LESS IT COULD STILL BE LOWERED. COMPARING IT WITH THE OTHER SUV'S IN ITS CLASS, IT IS THE MOST APPEALLING AND BETTER PRICED. IT HAS TOUGH AND PERFORMANCE STATISTICS AFTER ITS SECOND PLACE FINISH IN THE DAKAR RALLY 2006. OTHER SUV'S HAVE NOTHING TO BACKED UP THEIR WORD, EXCEPT PAYING FOR COMMERCIALS THAT IS ONE MINUTE OF MAKE BELIEVE IN THE DESERT....read morehide

- Amazing Vehicle, One of a kind German Engineering
- VW Badge
Overall, even with the VW Badge, this vehicle is very nice. I really like the V10 engine, I think it is a very well built powerplant, and also very dependable.
