Volkswagen has a VERY POOR history when it comes to reliability. I had heard a few of the VW nightmare stories before buying this - mostly from friends who owned Jettas (00-04's had horrendous problems I am hearing) but I chose to ignore them thinking that was in the past. Wow - I have never had such an unreliable car. In six months it has been in the shop 7 times. It has been there more than in my garage. Google "Volkswagen Sucks" and see for yourself all of the other reviews that agree with me. ***REMEMBER VW USES REPUTATION DEFENDER TO LOAD BOGUS FIVE STAR REVIEWS ON SITES LIKE THIS TO MAKE THEIR CARS SOUND WAY BETTER THAN THEY ARE*** Think about it, unless the product is mindblowingly good, when is the last time you rushed to a website to write a positive review? Never - thats right. But when you have been treated poorly and had a terrible experience with an inferior product, of course you are eager to write one - as I am now. Take my advice - read the negative reviews ALL OVER THE WEB and ignore the positive reviews that say "car works great". It should work great - but it doesn't. Period. Buy one and cry later....read morehide

- Extraordinary mileage average, imagine one tank and 700 miles in the city!
- I dont wash it often, dont go to the gas station anymore

I previously had a Q7 2008 from audi, and even they are family, I prefer the touareg. Simply the milage !, In the roads I expect to fill a tank and go more than 1000 miles without stop. With audi, a lot of money of gas and lot of stops (more less 300 miles per tank). They are very much alike, except for the price. I am sure that I will get a much better price on resale than the one I got from the audi. Driving them are almost the same, I like much more the touch screen of the touareg than the audis. Great change...read morehide

- The only problem I have with this vehicle is that is drinks Premium gas with the gas prices skyrocki
Purchased As New
I received the 2005 Touareg as a Christmas gift brand new. I had been looking at this vehicle as well as the Lexus 470. For the money, appearance, drive ability and the amenties that it offered, I was sold on the Touareg. I have enjoyed driving this VW. This is my first VW. I normally drive Volvos. I have begun looking for a new SUV and I am pretty impressed with the service that I have received with the VW. A Touareg is for someone who wants to be different and don't want to see themselves coming down the highway constantly. Touareg is in a class by itself. Yes I will admit that it is a pricey vehicle to be a VW. However I look at where this vehicle was manufactured. (With the BMW's, Mercedes, Poosch, and Audi) What do you expect? A vehicle that is constantly in the mechanic shop for service along with the other automobiles that is less pricey or one with some class?...read morehide
