GREEN DIESEL JETTA BETTER THAN THE HYBRID SURELY!!

by Jeff Morgan (10/14/08)
Pros:Excellent car for the money in fuel savings, maintenance, value, styling, riding comfort & features!
Cons:Better car than a complex hybrid which has the same MPG, but expensive to maintain!

I always thought that there is a better alternative than going hybrid and found it in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI that makes close to 50 MPG and priced lower than the Toyota or Honda hybrids. The hybrids are complicated transmission of power from gas to electric & vice versa! The maintenance of the Jetta is straight forward than the hybrid which needs highly trained mechanic-electricians to repair!

Go with the simplier kind of car and think about the value for your money!!!

TEST DRIVE TDI, BEFORE BUYING BMW OR MECERDEZ

by Khan from San Diego, CA (10/13/08)
Pros:Drive like six cylinders, very fun to drive
Cons:not yet

I have been driven Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. I never had fun like driving Jetta TDI. But Japaness cars are reliable. This is my first German car . I will find out myself if they could compete with the Japaness on reliability.I do my own miantenance.

My first VW

by JJones from Salisbury, NC (10/11/08)
Pros:Pre Paid maintenance, ride, pickup, I'll never buy anything but a VW
Cons:VW doesn't offer the TDI in all of its cars

I drove the Accord, Civic, Camry, and Volvo and NOTHING compares to the value I get for the money in my Jetta SE, its got a ipod adapter and man, great Pickup. I've had japanese cars my whole life but after riding in this Jetta I'll never buy anything else. After driving my jetta all the other import cars in my price range seem very cheaply made.

Buy a diesel and enjoy driving a lot more!

by patrick perschke from Hopkinsville KY (10/10/08)
Pros:I wish it got even better mileage.
Cons:Trans clunks into 1st. Trans computer is confused a little. Mileage suffers on cold AMs

I really love the diesel engine. A totally different expereince in accerleration. Torque is an awesome power delivery! Acceleration from 0 to 60 is amazing, yet you are not aware that the engine is working; its only a 2 liter engine. It feels like a strong V6 or a small V8. It makes you want more Diesel. I'm thinking about buying a bigger VW like the Tiguan with the V10. Diesel is definitely the way to go. Makes you feel like your car is a recreational vehicle that you don't care about spending money on. Still it's cheap!

First time VW owner will never go back!

by Joe C. from Cherry Hill, N.J. (10/10/08)
Pros:good mileage, handles very well and the trunk is huge!
Cons:The ride is a bit rough but I expected that and actually like it for the car.

I bought my Jetta a year ago and love it. I wasn't so sure that I'd like a VW as I had never owned one but I am very pleased with it and really enjoy driving it.

Best Little Sports Car in it price class!!!!

by Bryan from Ponchatoula, LA (10/10/08)
Pros:Fast Car with excellent proformance. Sporty ride, Best Sports Car in price range
Cons:Wolfsburg only gets 22 - 25 mpg average, little noisey, oil changes on high end

This is my first foreign car and like it. You can't ask for a better deal and for a very fast 4 cylinder. I get comments all the time on my red wolfsburg. The dealer has to do your maintence which of course is pricey but the warrenty is good

Great car

by Apexhunter from Kailua, Hawaii (10/10/08)
Pros:Great improvement over the 2005 I traded in
Cons:Ride is a little rough

I really love this car, it's the best car I've ever owned and I've owned everything from a Porsche 911SC to SUV's. It's got everything, power, performance, cornering, great stereo and an IPOD jack.

TDI Jetta is a great car.

by bozo blogger from Kenwood, CA (10/10/08)
Pros:great fuel economy, sporty ride, classy interior, great transmission, peppy
Cons:suspension too noisey inside, wheel hop on excelleration

Overall this is a great car. It does everything pretty well and at about 40 mpg overall. It has a very stylish interior and the seating and interior is far superior to anything in it's class. My only suggestions are more sound deadening as the suspension drums on bumpy roads. Also, the TDI has so much torque that there's wheel hop on hard excelleration on bumpy pavement.

This was the car for me

by MikeyOC from Oregon City, Oregon (9/19/08)
Pros:Nice equipement for the price, well built, fun to drive
Cons:No controls in the steering wheel

I just bought this 2009 SE from Armstrong VW and they were very easy to deal with, that was nice! All I can really say is that after looking at the Mazda 3 and Suburu Legacy I was immediatly comparing them to the Jetta. It is fun to drive, has good power and besides the lack of control in the steering wheel for stereo and cruise control it really is well equiped and everything works great!
