i bought this car because it was pretty inexpensive for such a great car and what you get. the styling is fantastic but the engine is what really makes me love this car. if you drive slow in the subburbs you will get around 27-28 miles per gallon and around 30 on the highway. i love driving this becasue when you hit the gas you feel the torque in every single gear...it's so much fun to drive. a lot of cars especially honda have less torque than power but not this baby. it handles well for an economy car without sacrificing ride comfort. i also like to listen to music pretty loud so the systems sounds great. the interior is fantastic, and doesnt feel cheap in the least bit, you dont get the plasticy feel that you get in similar priced cars. the only thing i dont like is that if you like to drive fast around town you dont get great mileage, but if you are not a lead-foot it gets pretty good milage.not sure if you want this car or another? buy this car, you wont be disappointed!...read morehide

This is my second rabbit. I had an 07 and traded for an 08... I drive alot of miles in my business and absolutely love this car. 40k spark plugs were a surprise and 50k rear brakes too, but no other maintanance costs. I will trade for another when 2010 decides a golf or rabbit. Nice 5 cylinder and nice six speed tiptronic for the money....read morehide

I've had my Rabbit a couple of months and I love it. This car is quick, nimble, roomy in front, and extremely well built with many safety features. Now I look forward to my 30 mile drive to work each day! My only complaint is the funeral car colors the car comes in. What ever happened to red, blue, green, orange and yellow for car colors? Only red in the four door, I don't understand that....read morehide

I looked into other cars and have owned only other imports but this was my first VW. The exterior looks great and the interior does not feel cheap at all. This car has plenty of power for a small car and handles great, and it has great standard features (standard traction/stability control, ABS, and direct-shifting with the automatic). Value and performance were the difference between this car and others like the matrix, fit, and impreza. Will have to see about reliability but lately their ratings in this area have gone up too I hear.....read morehide

Just bought the car, and WOW! Such a solid and smooth ride. You know you are in a German-engineered vehicle compared to the more "plasticky" feel and hollow ride of the Japanese and American counterparts.
I looked at the Mazda3, Subaru Impreza, Honda Fit and the Toyota matrix. The Honda Fit was gutless and the Matrix felt cheap inside and a very stiff ride. I have a bad back and I could feel ever bump jarring my spine. Impreza was ok and has 4wd but has bland interior and generic looks. The Mazda3 felt cramped with cheap platic dash.
The Rabbit suffers none of these limitations. Great power and the engine sounds rich and throaty, unlike the tinny sounding engines of the others. And so much room! putting 5 in the car is no problem.
I got a great price on the car, paid around $18700, which was no more than the others, but SO much more car....read morehide

I love this little machine! I got my rabbit about 3 months ago and I still can't take my eyes off of it, I believe this is what would be considered true love. I just took my VW on a 700 mile road trip and could have driven 1000 more miles. the power band on it is very constant while cruising, and with the torque that the engine provides it is easy to overtake slower moving vehicles. I was very impressed with the MPG while cruising at 75mph, I believe I got right around 33 miles per gallon on 93 octane, not bad. Since I bought the vehicle I have done some minor modifications such as sport tuned suspension, and high performance tires and rims, and it made the little car even that much better. Lastly I would like to say that there is nothing I would change on this car....read morehide
