- Handles great; fast car; looks good too.
- No leg room in the back seat.
At first, I really liked this car and then I've had to bring it back to the service department for minor repairs; such as one of the wiper blades was not functioning, the anti-freeze pump went out; there was a wierd noise when I made a U-turn on my left side and we found out a part needed to be replaced, and lastly the moulding on the driver's side door came off 3 times. I'm willing to give this S60 a chance but if it start costing me too much for minor repairs, I'll trade it for a Toyota....read morehide

- Fast, smooth ride, comfortable seats
- The turning radius is tight. (Not sure if all front wheel drive cars are the same?)
I planned on buying another Mercedes C-class until I found this car. It was equally as great (if not better) and the kicker was that my insurance actually went down substantially. I was sold. I never really thought i'd be a Volvo type of girl, but I will probably buy another one in the future. I also had the best experience with their sales department as well. It was such an easy transaction I was shocked! They definitely had the customer put first and foremost....read morehide

- Safety-of course
- No room for a person in the bask seat- might as well be a 2 seater!
I am true Volvo lover, and I come from a long line of Volvo owners- The S60 is my 7th Volvo. Talk about buyers remorse!
I am so disappointed I wish there was a return policy!
When I bought this car the salesperson sat in the backseat while I drove around with my husband in the passenger seat.
I assumed he was comfortable since he didnt say anything and I assume the backseat was a full backseat like all the other Volvos I have owned..
I didnt expect as much room as a wagon or SUV - but I did expect to be able to drive atleast 2 (normal sized) kids in the back seat.
There is no leg room for my 10 year old child in the backseat. Four people in the car- forget about it....read morehide

- Excellent performance, front seats good for tall people, looks
- small rear seats, no truck key - battery in trunk.
I own the Volvo S60T in Ash Gold. It has some package with leather seats, upgraded stereo, fog lights, etc. I have to say the upgraded stereo on my car is very impressive, it's one of the things that people often comment on. I also like the auto feature on the radio that pulls in the top 10 stations no matter where you travel geographically. I've only put 13k miles in a year and a half, so the car still drives like new.
I find the 2.5L turbo engine to be more then suficient to blow away almost any other car or truck on the road. The other day I was talking on my cell phone, not paying attention and I needed to get in the left lane fast to get on the highway - so a little punch on the gas and I blew away the truck next to me and easily slipped past him. I might want to get one of those blue tooth ear pieces one of these days.
I find the performance on the Volvo 2.5T to be consistent with the quality of gas that is put in. The higher the octane (94 is best), the better the performance. I'm also a big fan of all the accessories. The mercedes, bmw and audi don't have a built in roof rack with tons of accessories. I use the bike rack on occasion and also the euro-carrier on long trips. The fold down seats are amazing with 40/60 split, but also a push out in the center rear console that allows me to put a canoe paddle in the trunk, while keeping the rear seats up and the trunk locked.
I don't understand how stuppid the designers were when they put the battery in the trunk and then didn't include a key. How the heck are you supposed to jump start the car if your battery ever dies? Next scheduled service I'm going to speak with my dealer about getting a key put in the trunk.
I find the leather seats and head rests to be some of the best on the market. The Ash Gold exterior matches excellent to the leather toupe interior. I also think the styling is excellent, it's such a pleasure to be able to actually find your car in a crowded lot. Handling is nice and tight, with the suspesion reaching a good balance between sport and soft. The car does NOT lean at all on hard cornering.
Overall, I'm sold on this Volvo, I'm 6'4" tall, and although the rear seats seem limited on space, I'm glad Volvo thought mostly of the tall front seat driver. It's one of the few cars where I can actually see out of the middle of the winshield. Normally, I have to look through the blue tint on the top of the winshield.
I really can't say more, because I've had no problems and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The car feels really solid and handles very well in all road conditions....read morehide

- Averaging 20 mpg in city and 27 hwy so far after 5000
- Needs tighter turning radius, rear seats short on space
Overall this is a great car for the money.....especially if most of your time is spent int he driver's seat! Fast, tight and lots of umph especially for passing on the highways. Huge trunk which is atypical for cars of this size and room for a family of four although the rear passengers will be slightly squeazed during longer trips. Excellent seats and ergonomics and just quiet enough to make this a great ride in a spectacularly safe, fun car!...read morehide

- No GOVERNER!!!
- Not very big inside
For what I paid for the T5 I would think it would have enough room to fit an entire family. But it doesnt. I am 5-8 and it to me is like sitting in a neon. But the good thing is yes, there is no governer in mine. I live in Germany so I do not have to worry about cops pulling me over for speed. Can get this car up to 135 mph with a blink of the eye. Maxed it out at 140 mph and that was only because of traffic. Really wouldnt know what to do if I brought this back to the US with all those speed laws. Really would be a waste of money if you cannot ride in the sunroof at 140.........read morehide

- Great looks and a very solid feel. Turbo makes it very fast. Best seats ever!
- Very small backseat, but big enough for my two large dogs.
I upgraded the tires from the Pirelli's to Toyo T1 Proxis (consumer reports highest rated tire) and WOW! It handles better than most BMW's and Mercedes. I live in Topanga CA and drive on crazy mountain roads all the time and my S60 loves it!
There is a slight Turbo lag. There is also a huge lag shifting gears using the manual mode on the tiptronic trany. Audi uses two clutch plates to solve this, I hope Volvo will follow....read morehide

- A terrific and reliable Volvo! Fun to drive, quick and comfortable!
- No negatives!
This is our 3rd Volvo, two wagons for my wife (which she loved, and I found boring, this one for me! It replaced an Audi A6, which was a beautiful car, but service was horrible! Parts were never available. Volvo has been amazing! I have 26,000 miles in 18 months, and it's still tight and free of any rattles. The dealer has provided all service at no charge, provided loaners, and returned my car correctly serviced and washed and vacuumed! The S60 is a great driver, quiet and tight. The "auto or shift" option transmission is better than tiptronic. The sound system is first rate. I have nothing but compliments!...read morehide

- Great Handling, Quick,
- Mileage could be a little better, blind spot pretty big
Bought the 2004 2.5T in July '04 and I have to say it has been great. No problems thus far. In '04 models, Volvo has "thrown in" the first four tune-ups, not sure about the '05 models, if not, negotiate it. Volvos follow up and customer service have also been outstanding.
Great value, outstanding handling in inclement weather (I do have the climate and touring package). The only problem that I have is the particularly large blind spot when trying to switch lanes, which is kind of ironic coming from "the safest car on the road!" Regardless, it wouldn't stop me from buying another. Seating is OUTSTANDING. I just wish I got some better gas mileage, but the car runs great, feels safe, strong and secure which is worth the trade off....read morehide

- Comfortable ride, Responsive, Brakes, Safety rating, Tight, Solid feel
- Driver visibility. Must use mirrors more often than most cars. Likes premium fuel
After a great deal of careful research, we chose the S60 2.5 T over 6 other cars. It is very smooth and quiet at all reasonable speeds. So far the car is getting 26 mpg overall. Very comfortable on trips. A great car for the price!
