- great car
Purchased As Used
I have owned several volvos. nice cars. But I always felt like the beemers, audies, etc. discounted me as nice but slow. Dude, the R changed all that. This car will smoke, I guarantee, the majority of luxury cars in a similar class. This car is so beautifullyl understated. Single exhaust. No flashy signs of quickness. Just a gentle idle and tremendous roar. I currently drive a Saab and I do like the car, but it does not have the same feel as this R. Comfort, style and power. Great car. Get one. But, hey, don't get one for your teenager---too much car for a novice. JS...read morehide

- Sticks to the road like glue, a real sleeper, smooth 6 speed manual, great seats
- wide turning radius, low beams should be more powerful, duel exhausts would have been nicer
I have owned V-8 camaros, mustangs, and firebirds then got refined and had several 3 series BMW's. This is my first Volvo. Ten years ago you could not have given a Volvo to me. This S60R is a real sleeper. The 300 horses roar! I have dusted many unsuspecting cars. The six speed manual shifts the 300 HP turbo smoothly and i have pushed it to its limits on many occasions! I have had this car for seven months and love it to date! The brembo brakes are superb. The three chasis performance settings move the car from a standard sedan to a race car witrh the tough of a button! The front sport seats are the most comfortable of any car I have had to date! Don't over look this car if you are looking for an AWD performance car in disguise! It costs thousands less than simialr BMW's, Infinities, and Audies. Form and fit are great! Plus, I was able to deal a considerable amount off the sticker price at the dealership! Plus....there are only a few thousand of these cars shipped to the USA every year so you will be unique!...read morehide

- Comfortable, good looking dashboard, rim
- 1 side exhaust system, no exhaust tip.ugly
HID can be better, exhaust system could be on both sides that makes the car stronger looking..
Interior, the seats, 2 front are very comfortable
stereo and sound system could be better, make them better quality and brandy.

- Cheap price for 4wd and 300hp - (if you do some bargaining)
- gas guzzler, automatic trans not fast enough, rear legroom is small
I test drove the S60R with automatic transmission and I came away disappointed. I thought 300 turbocharged horsepower means real business but it's slower than a 2000 maxima. There are also reports that this car has less horses and torque than advertised, and it feels that way too. I would recommend testing the 6 speed manual but they're hard to find in L.A. area.
If you're shopping for an R you need to look at the performance data carefully, because it doesn't feel like a 6 second car....read morehide

- A 300 horse manual that gets this type of gas mileage, standard options are unbelieveable
- Great car only two, give and take is rear seat leg room and low profile tires impact steering radius
My first new Volvo is an R,
Only one word need be mentioned about the R "INCREDIBLE!!!".
I have been driving an S60 R for just over 5 months and every day gets better and better, I cannot begin to express how great this car is with all the standard options and the way the interior is designed I have only been able to discover two cons that I can live with that is the rear seat leg room and the impact of the low profile tires on the steering radius but I'll keep the low profile tires because all you have to do is click the electronic advanced suspension control button and be prepared to feel like you are riding in something that goes around curves like it's on rails. I have also always been one who wants to drive something that not many people are driving (sorry BMW owners, I passed up on the BMW for this specific reason) as I understand it only 75% of the 4000 R's produced each model year are S60's that make it to the states the other 25% is the station wagon version now there's a grocery getter with some horses. I would strongly recommend that any one looking for comfort and performance at a great price with the Volvo quality you can't beat the R. I offer to let people who are thinking about a Volvo drive mine every day, because I know once they drive an R they will! be sold and be asking where do I sign. When people say this car is worth seeing, you can believe it!. Find your nearest Volvo dealership that has an S60 R and drive it today!...read morehide

- Fast, handles very well, safe, looks good
- My brakes don't sqeek (yet). Wish the trunck was smaller and the leg room larger (I'm 6' 4")
I bought this model (black) with every possible option including the Acuma leather, 12 speaker sound system with amp, and remote navigation. Since then, I have added 19" aluminum rims from Evolve and 245/35 Michelin PS2 Y rated tires. I also put Eibach racing springs, stainless steal brake lines, Evolve exhaust from the CAT back, an upgraded ECU, and a cold air intake system on the car (not to mention about a half a dozen other modifications). My car now has approximately 350hp (I have the manual 6 speed version) and it will beat any M3 or G35 on the road....read morehide

- Power, radio, sleek looks, AWD, interior comfort
- brakes squeek
I love this car! I did my research and looked at the BMW 5 Series, Acura TL, and Infiniti G35 Sedan. The BMW was priced almost 10-15K higher for comparable performance, the Acura was close but didn't have AWD or the uniqueness of the R model Volvo, and the Infiniti w/ AWD couldn't match the performance. I would have like some more backseat room but overall I am definitely pleased. I upgraded the interior to the Atacama leather(burnt orange) with the Metallic gray exterior and I get plenty of compliments. Plus the 300 HP is awesome! The only problem with 300 HP is my foot gets a little heavy at times and the mileage is not too great when I do that! But, I can live with that....read morehide

- power, handeling, brake fade, stereo,
- room w/ 4 in car, brake noise, lights to low, shifter makes noise.
I found this car after going to the BMW and Mercedes dealership, more power and 4 wheel drive for less, gotta love that. I think that this car handles as good or better than any car in its price range and talk about a sleeper, who would have guessed that a Volvo would go this fast. I have had it to 135 MPH on the highway w/ 4 people in it and the two in the back never even woke up. My only complaints have to do w/ the lights being set to low ( HIDs should work better than this), the brakes make a lot of noise till you really hit them hard and the shifter has started making a banging noise when I shift at anything but a snails pace. All things that I am sure will get ironed out at my first service at the dealer. I am loving this car!!...read morehide
