Absolutely love the new Volvo S60. It is so nice to drive a vehicle that has the combo of truly world class safety features, very comfortable cabin, and strong acceleration. Handling is solid and interior space is decent. What's not to like at this price?

Terrific car. Vastly under-rated. If only all the people who buy Japanese luxury brands tried the Volvo first!

Bought one after having one as a rental car. It gets great gas mileage, with plenty of power, a smooth and comfortable ride. Plenty of leg room for our tall friends as well. Love the car.

- Pros
- Power, preformance and luxury at a much "less German" price.
- Cons
- No steering wheel paddle shifters. Ride vs preformance trade off could have been a little better.

I'll start by saying that I'm a week-end amateur race track driver, so my review focuses mostly on the performance side of this car. So... does this car out-preform a BMW or Audi? In a word: No it doesn't... So why did I still buy it? Simple, even though the performance is a couple of points down from it's German rivals - the price and value is unbeatable at any level - thousands of dollars less and with more options, plus Volvo dealers WILL negotiate with you.
Performance wise, this car has amazing acceleration and power - forget the already face-smiling 325hp, it's the 354 lb-ft of Earth moving torque that will blow right pass the 335ix and A4 Quattro all the way into triple digit speeds. In sport mode, the transmission is near telepathic... holding the RPMs high and downshifting immediately when more go is needed. I honestly don't miss the manual, especially in Chicago's stop and stop traffic.
For work I do a lot of driving so I also wanted a safe car and Volvo, of course, delivers safety out in spades. Car and Driver magazine, during a high speed test, accidentally hit a dear head-on at 125mph, the car was totaled but the driver walked away without a scratch - they never found the body of the dear. Plus, add in the latest "GOOD" result of the IIHS small overlap crash test where Audi, Mercedes and Lexus all got "POORs" (OK, the BMW got a "MARGINAL") and that pretty much makes this car the safest automobile on the road today and sums up the complete package of this excellent car.
I assure you that not taking a test drive in this car would be a very serious and costly mistake. This car will not only impress you, it will completely change your perception of Volvo as well!...read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

I have a Volvo S60 and it has been a total nightmare. We have had constant repair problems. The bulbs blow on a weekly basis. We have had to replace almost every part possible, and volvo service is very expensive and staffed by sneaky, difficult people. This car is a true lemon.

All the potential Volvo buyer need do is simply ASK one or two Volvo owners of their cars from the late 80s through the 2000's
- the last 22 years or so.... That's all, just ask ;em how often they broke down, how expensive and easy-to-obtain were the poarts; how easy and cheap to repair, average time before something makor failed, after something major had just failed.
Especially ask those who owned a Japnes car either before or after their Volvo... Just ask those people....I am a boomer who has had SIX new cars in my lifetime, incl. a Volvo -before my current model (NOT a Volvo). If you really want a Volvo, its highly recommended that you continuously take coursework in Volvo repair, because they are as proprietary as possible. There are "sensors" for every imaginable system, and sensors for the sensors. What parts do you think fail most often? THE SENSORS? What are the most expensive parts? THE SENSORS and their circuit boards. Study auto repair and plan to make it your 2nd career if you get a Volvo. BTW "Volvo AMerica" is the most arrogant auto org in the US. Their "customer service" is mean, nasty, uncaring, and obviously non-existant in many ways. However, you deserve a Volvo, if you have $40k++ to squander on one, and you do so!...read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

I don't think I'll ever drive anything but a Volvo again. This is my second VolvoS60; my first was a 2006 which I handed down to my daughter. I fell in love with this car the first time I drove it and 8 months later I'm still in love! This car is just beautiful inside and out. This is a racecar wrapped in luxury. I seriously have nothing negative to say about this car. If you want a car that is reliable, sleek, with good gas milage, a top safety rating, and oh yeah.... fun to drive...I encourage you to test drive this car....read morehide

Volvo really knocked it out of the park on the new S60. It's quiet, rides smoothly with very even power delivery, and the engine is not harsh or noisy (remarkable for a 5 cylinder engine). It also is extremely stylish with its coupe-like body and cinnamon brown leather interior. The nav screen delivers a really clear picture and works via voice activation. The turbo engine is quite fast, and best of all, runs on 87 octane regular unleaded gas. Fuel efficiency is also quite good, with my S60 delivering 26 mpg in mixed driving. I honestly haven't seen this level of fuel efficiency since I owned a Toyota Corolla. Add to this the 5-year 100,000 mile warranty and included maintenance, and you have an extremely satisfied customer!...read morehide

This is the car that I wanted all my life...expensive but I manage to do a good trade in.
The car is been build very good with parts from all over: France, Belgian, Germany, Sweden...
I don't have an ounce of a problem with this car...I had before Nissan, Honda, Toyota...all this car's after 2-3 months you have to have some kind of warranty / maintenance or repairs on...NOT with VOLVO......read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

The 2012 T5 is my second Volvo S60 and I've loved both that I've owned. The S60 is extremely reliable and very safe. I would recommend this car to anyone.
