Purchased As New
I bought this car new in April of 2005 and sold it to my brother in April of 2011 with 246,000 miles on it. The only major issue I had is when the fuel line broke at 54K miles. I did the maintenance on the car myself including 7 sets of rear brakes, 2 sets of front brakes, all new motor mounts, both halfshafts, and several sets of front and rear control arms (bushings failed). I would not hesitate to drive this car across country today even with the high mileage....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, safety features
- sluggish engine, terrible quality.
My V50 is so safe because it spends most of its time parked in my dealers service dept. and not on the road. Metal fragments were found in the motor, the side mirror light popped out while driving, the radio/CD wouldn't work, the car wouldn't start because the ignition broke (which also caused the dash lights to malfunction)....this is everything since I bought it new the end of April 05.
As soon as I near the end of the warranty, this car will be traded for something I actually research before purchasing! I won't buy another Volvo, despite the kindness I've experienced from my sales person....read morehide

- great motor.. tons of Torque only $3G more than a Mazda 6 wagon
- love to see rear AC vents. back seat good for the kids, not adults
Bought this when I couldn't replace my Jetta TDI wagon. Went for safety and performance over mileage. Very pleased with the car. Great torque, decent mileage (avg 25mpg), the 6 speed is very usable and love the way the center stack looks (so do all my friends).
I wish it came with a moonroof standard (I don't have one) but otherwise very happy with overall value. Looked at Mazda 6, 3, Subaru WRX wagon and Legacy Outback wagons and this was the most car for the $$$. Interior seems to be holding up well for now (I have 2 small kids). Tight weave should do fine over the long term.
Definately happy with the car and looking forward to many many miles of happy motoring....read morehide

- fast, sporty, excellent handling, good fuel economy, awd, best bang for the buck
- bit harsh of a ride but handles well b/c of..., gas and brake pedal bit close, spare tire is a mini
We have put in about 2500 miles and are very happy with the car. For a family of 4 it fits our needs without guzzling gas like a suv. It is great to have awd to avoid wet weather dangers and the power and the handling to avoid other road hazards. It is not your Father's station wagon, but a true sports wagon. It handles better than most cars in its class. The built in booster seats are a plus for a "family vehicle."
If you are in the market for a wagon or a better alternative to an suv this is as good as it gets....read morehide

- Nices lookin wagon, sport car drive, handles quite well for a wagon, fuel economy
- Ride is noticed in cabin, needs additional 3.5" in rear seating, no rear air, price
Would of purchased this sport wagon, but price outways drawbacks. Fuel efficiency is great compared to my SUV, but back seat area is just too small. Will consider a 2006 model. Volvo has a good concept here but needs to improve in a few areas before I spend the kind of money they are asking compared to peers. On a good note it looks much better, has better front room comfort and outperformed all small car peers-subaru, audi, mazda3 and bmw....read morehide

- Hugs curves, tight turn radius, DRRRRRRIVES!
- somewhat cramped interior, control panel not intuitive
I love this car. It feels like a race car and is very comfortable. These cars are great for those who love to drive sporty cars, but have to be practical. Very fuel efficient. The only real con so far is the interior feels a bit cramped for me who previously had a Chrysler 300M. I have not had any electrical trouble, but Volvo cars have had these problems from Day 1....read morehide

- Great looks, excellent power, top-shelf interior quality, tight as a drum
- Backseat too narrow, rear wheel-wells eat up storage space
A little pricey when optioned out (heated seats, 17" wheels, moonroof, etc.), but worth it, because this is a keeper. the build quality is excellent. The car is so tight that rattles from cargo become annoying. The cloth seats are extremely comfortable and grippy and the ride is good if you stay away from the sport suspension. The dealer experience was great....read morehide

- Great looks, drives well
- feel every bump due to tight suspension
We have had our car for two months now and love it. We bought it through overseas military sales which we WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. The service and communication was horrible from our dealer overseas but the stateside dealers have been very helpful.
