2006 Volvo XC70 User Reviews

- Performance, Styling and Comfort
- Could get better gas milage
This is a great wagon. Not a single problem in first 15K miles. Drives better than Chevy Tahoe in the snow and feels like a sports sedan on the street. Interior has great layout and very comfortable. Seats are great. Exterior style is nice while being rugged. Exellent car for active lifestyle.

- comfort, good looking car, safe!
- electrical problems, battery replaced and towed 4 times!
I was so excited to get our XC90 and was very pleased with the car. Unfortunately, I am in the process of returning our XC90 2006. We have not even had the car a year and already we had it towed four times for dead battery and electrical failure! We love the car enough that we are going to get another one and hope for the best. Is this problem common or was it just a "lemon" for us?...read morehide

- Extremely comfortable, nice looking, solid and safe
- Poor gas mileage
Absolutely love this car!! This is my second Volvo; had a V70 before and owned Saabs before that. Am very fond of Swedish cars, mostly due to the features (ie: heated seats, memory seating, high quality leather) and this one has impressed me just as much, if not more - of course, time will tell - I never get rid of a car prior to 150,000 miles. Was in a rear-impact accident 3 weeks after getting my car which was upsetting, but was sooo impressed with how safe and solid the car was. The car that hit me (Scion) crumpled it's front end, which is how they are made to take impact, but it was sitting on my back bumper and although the person hit me going a fair speed, there was only minor scuffing on the back hatch, damage to the bumper and underfloor damage, but nothing structural and my 2 children (aged 7 and 4), who were in the back seats, escaped completely unscathed and barely upset. As a side note, was very thankful that I used a Volvo auto body, they knew exactly what to look for, replaced with orignal parts, and matched the paint so perfectly, you would never know it was in an accident. I have the Barents blue metallic paint, which is very hard to match and I've seen bad patch jobs with this color, so an FYI to those who might find themselves in that situation. Also, to be noted, is the fact that this car has an incredible amount of umpf, which is much more enjoyable than my V70. The turbo is very smooth and the engine has a very sporty response....read morehide

- quiet, comfortable ride, seats are AMAZING, safe yet rugged, feels like SUV but dives like sports ca
- value, ford-made
i LOVE this car. it does everything you ask it to. the all wheel drive and plethora of airbags makes me feel safe and confident on the road. the mileage is so much better than the suv i traded in, and the 9" of ground clearance is high enough that i still feel like i can see down the road safely. wagon body affords multiple uses yet it looks nothing like a conventional wagon--this is one rugged machine! acceleration is surprisingly zippy and the turbo is impressive--feel free to pass anyone up on the freeway. very roomy, very spacious, lots of attention to detail.
could be better value. i recommend buying used so you don't take the initial hit. i mean, this car was $44k brand new. for that you could probably buy a 325xi all wheel drive bmw wagon or a suburu with lots to spare. that's probably my only complaint....read morehide

- Smooth ride, seems safe, sunroof
- Terrible gas mileage, electrical problems, not like the Swedish volvos
Having driven a Vovlvo 240 for years, this Ford/Volvo is a big disappointment. Gets terrible gas mileage (avg 16 in the city) and we have to take it in several times for electrical problems. Bring back the 240s!!

- Drives wonderful, plush interior yet rugged looks. Lots of room and accessories.
- Not the best value for the $. Not as many extras as I would expect from a $40K vehicle
Overall I have very satisfied with this car. Traded in a Subaru Impreza WRX wagon for this Cross County. The XC70 drives fabulous, plush ride, adequate room for traveling-- very good looking car! Probably the safest car on the planet!
Downside is that I would expected more extras for the money. Not even a multiple disk changer!!!...read morehide

- It almost drives itself; we feel very safe driving on snowy mountain roads.
- A little cramped in front seat; no place to put briefcase, etc.
We live in the Sierra Nevada mountains and must deal with snow and ice on steep winding roads. We had a Subaru before, and it was good, but our Volvo is even better. If you hit ice, it corrects almost immediately. We've been very happy with the Volvo and may get another one (price-depending).

- Excellent traction due to AWD
- Electrical problems
Just got a 2006 XC70 two weeks ago and the radio didn't work properly. Volvo replaced the radio and it still has problems. Very discouraging considering this is a $40,000 vehicle.
