Matte black hypercars are not exactly uncommon these days. Outlandishly-colored wraps are a hallmark of the modern supercar buyer, but a hypercar is more likely to be delivered in a matte finish from the factory to the exacting specifications of its one-of-hundreds buyer looking for an even more rare color combination. Back in 2004, though, the wave of unique colors was only beginning. Getting matte black on a Ferrari was unheard of, and getting it on an Enzo from the factory was almost sacrilege. However, this was 2004, and the royal family of Brunei still had some outsized influence with Ferrari. Enough influence, apparently, to get one Enzo delivered in Nero Opaco.

Yes, this is the only Ferrari Enzo delivered in matte black. The car was ordered by a member of the House of Bolkiah, the royal family of Brunei most closely associated with the current Sultan's once-legendary car collection. The family had ordered their share of one-0ff Ferraris in the past, so they apparently had enough influence to get one Enzo delivered in matte black. An RM Sotheby's auction listing claims that it is the first ever Ferrari hypercar offered in the shade, in addition to being the only Enzo painted in the color from the factory.
