Most people think of vans as simple, non-threatening cars designed to transport people or goods from one place or another. But over the years, people and car companies have transformed a handful of these vans into some of the most extreme pieces of machinery we've ever seen.

Donut Media put together a short video listing ten of the coolest, most awesome vans the world has ever seen. The list includes legends such as the wildly capable Renault Espace F1, Ford Supervan 2, and even home-built projects like the 993 Turbo-powered Volkswagen Bus.

The list also mentions Jaguar's secret Ford race van used to test the XJ220's twin-turbo V6 engine, as well as Honda's factory-backed Odyssey Pikes Peak hillclimb car, and even a couple of purpose-built drift vans. Turns out there's some serious variety in the modified people-mover world.
