Chevrolet introduced the compact Chevy II as a 1962 model, then added the midsize Chevelle two years later. That gave 1964 Chevrolet shoppers three car sizes to choose from (in addition to the Corvette and Corvair), and this centerfold magazine advertisement shows off the Chevelle Malibu convertible in Ember Red, parked on the dock next to the WW2 submarine USS Cero. In 1964, the Cero was being used as a training vessel at the Detroit Naval Armory, a conveniently short drive away from the GM Building.
