2012-2016 Fiat 500 recalled for transmission problems: 80,000 cars affected

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling more than 80,000 Fiat 500 vehicles from the 2012 to 2016 model years. According to a statement from the automaker, some of those cars may experience serious transmission problems.

The recall is limited to models equipped with manual transmissions. FCA reports that those vehicles may experience excessive clutch travel. Over time, that can damage the 500's transmission, limiting a driver's ability to change gears.
