2025 Corvette ZR1's Top Speed Is Going to Be BigDavid Bush

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s top speed wasn’t finalized when Chevy took the wraps off its monster machine earlier this year. Tomorrow, that changes.

A video teaser posted to Chevy’s Instagram page tells us that the ZR1’s top speed will be revealed tomorrow, October 15. All we know so far is that it will be “comfortably over 215 mph.” The teaser video itself (below) suggests as much, too, as we see video of the speedometer rising from 208 mph to 212 mph in quick order before it cuts back to an exterior shot. At the rate it was still climbing, we’ve little doubt Chevy will easily hit its claimed mark of over 215 mph.

Top speed will be achieved with a ZR1 not equipped with the big wing of the ZTK performance package. The non-ZTK cars still get a sizable spoiler, but it produces considerably less drag, letting it eke out even more speed. We went for a ride in a prototype wearing the ZTK’s big wing and saw 206 mph on the speedometer, which clearly left a lot of headroom for the low-wing car.

The 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 with its 1,064 horsepower and 838 pound-feet of torque appears to be on a one-way journey to break every Corvette record held previously. A C7 ZR1’s claimed top speed is 212 mph, which Chevy looks to be breezing by with the C8. The C8 Z06 claims 195 mph as its top speed, but that lowers to 188 mph with the big-wing Z07 package. We’ll see just how far Chevy’s taken it when the official top-speed news hits tomorrow.
