2025 Ford Super Duty Platinum Gets Even More Deluxe
The 2025 Ford Super Duty lineup receives minor updates, most notably new options.
The penultimate Platinum trim adds the Platinum Plus package that includes a ritzier appearance and a more luxurious interior.
The F-250 and F-350 can also now be equipped with more trailer-assist tech as well as upfit accessories.
Heavy-duty pickup trucks are typically associated with towing massive loads and generally being gigantic. While that's true for the Ford Super Duty lineup, it's also true that the upper-crust trim levels are truly luxurious, and they get even fancier for the 2025 model year.
The Platinum ranks near the top of the Super Duty hierarchy, right below the top-of-the-line Limited. The penultimate trim already came standard with desirable equipment such as 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, power-operated running boards, and a B&O sound system. But the introduction of the new Platinum Plus package takes its deluxe nature up another notch.
The Platinum Plus kit gives the grille a satin finish that includes bright chrome bits. Inside, it adds perforated Venetian leather seats trimmed with French stitching. Also included with the package are Ford's Max Recline seats that allow the front buckets to fully recline to catch some shut-eye on the job site or in between towing horse trailers to and from the ranch. Then there's the added benefits of the Platinum Plus Ownership Experience, which provides a 20 percent discount on all Ford accessories for the first 90 days of ownership.
For 2025, the regular Platinum has a new black-painted grille and tailgate applique to go along with body-color door handles, and its interior has a new Black Onyx color scheme that's paired with Platinum Blue accents. Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat are two new exterior colors. The mid-level Lariat also receives a standard wrapped steering wheel, a fixed rear window with privacy glass, and synthetic upholstery that Ford calls "ActiveX." Cool.
Other changes to the '25 Super Duty lineup include the addition of the Ford Pro Vehicle Integration System 2.0. It's an option that allows upfit accessories to be wired into the trucks' digital systems, which makes it easier to control functions using the overhead toggle switches as well as those in the center touchscreen. There's also a new Trailer Technology package that includes blind-spot and tire-pressure monitors for the trailer. It's a dealer-installed option just like the available keyless keypad. Those who want the extended SuperCab will now be limited to the XL and XLT trims with the single-rear axle and the longer eight-foot cargo bed.
There are no changes to the heavy-duty trucks' available powertrains. The 400-hp gas-fed 6.8-liter V-8 is standard on the XL, XLT, and Lariat, while the King Ranch and Platinum come standard with the 430-hp gas-fed 7.3-liter V-8. All models have a 10-speed automatic transmission, and every version can be optioned with the mighty Power Stroke diesel 6.7-liter V-8, which is good for up to 500 horsepower and 1200 pound-feet of torque.
Ford hasn't yet released pricing for the 2025 Super Duty lineup, however, order books are now open.
