2025 Mazda CX-5 Revives Base Model, Lowers PriceMazda
  • Mazda revealed specs and pricing info for the 2025 CX-5 crossover, which revives the 2.5 S base model as a cheaper trim.

  • Along with the new base model, every 2025 CX-5 adds dual USB-C ports up front as a standard feature.

  • The new model year will begin arriving later this summer with pricing ranging from $29,990 for the base to $42,020 for the Turbo Signature model.

Despite its age and the introduction of the slightly larger CX-50, Mazda has no plans to get rid of the CX-5—in fact, the company is making it as appealing as ever. That's all right with us, considering the compact crossover has tallied up four 10Best awards over the years. Mazda revealed specs and pricing information for the 2025 CX-5, which reintroduces a base model below the Select trim.

Bucking the trend of year-over-year increases in pricing, Mazda has brought back the 2.5 S base model for the CX-5 lineup, lowering the entry price by $730 for 2025. As with the rest of the nonturbo models, the S comes equipped with Mazda's standard 187-hp four-pot. The standard equipment includes cloth seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Pricing changes for the rest of the lineup are quite minimal. The Select and Preferred trims now start at $31,320 and $32,670 respectively, marking increases of $600. The Carbon Edition increases to $34,020, and while the non-turbocharged Premium appears to have been axed from the lineup, the Premium Plus model gets cheaper and starts at $36,620. The turbocharged models all either retain their 2024 pricing or become slightly cheaper, with the Carbon Turbo starting at $38,420, the Turbo Premium at $39,220, and the Turbo Signature at $42,020.

On top of the changes in pricing, Mazda also swapped out the old USB-A ports in the front console for dual USB-C ports. There's still no word from Mazda on the upcoming hybrid model, but the standard 2025 car is set to begin arriving in dealerships later this summer.
