2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Is a 202-MPH Sedan
The third-generation Porsche Panamera might be best known for the innovative active suspension setup on its luxurious hybrid variants, but the four-door has the potential to be an exceptional performance car, too. Porsche is finally ready to show that side of its sedan, revealing both the range-topping Turbo S E-Hybrid and the GTS that will serve as the highest-performance model without electronic assistance.
The Turbo S E-Hybrid is the big news. It gets 591 hp from a variant of the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 found in the GTS combined with 187 hp from an electric motor integrated in the transmission housing to produce a peak output of 771 hp along with 737 lb-ft of torque. That makes this the most powerful Panamera to date, and that huge number is enough to propel the Turbo S to a top track speed of 202 mph. The car's 0-60 time is also down to 2.8 seconds, an improvement of 0.2 seconds on the previous-generation Turbo S.
Additionally, the electric motors in the transmission allow the Panamera to function as a plug-in hybrid. A relatively massive 25.9-kWh battery produces what Porsche calls "greater potential electric range" than its predecessor, but an all-electric range estimate is not given.
The Turbo S is also a Nürburgring record holder, news that Porsche shared three days before announcing the actual car. A time of 7:24.17 makes the Turbo S E-Hybrid the fastest executive sedan to ever lap the Nordschleife, although it is still more than 15 seconds behind the outrageous Taycan Turbo GT in an internal battle of Porsche four-doors.
That record car comes equipped with a carbon aero kit and Panamera-specific Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s, both options on Turbo S models. A front spoiler lip, aero blades, side skirts, and a rear diffuser make up the aero kit, which produces an additional 132 lb of downforce at 200 kmh.
Standard equipment for the Turbo S E-Hybrid is headlined by the advanced Porsche Active Ride suspension, a system designed for hybrid third-gen Panameras that completely erases body roll. Carbon ceramic brakes, rear-wheel steering, and a Bose sound system are among the many other higher-profile options that are standard on the Turbo S.
In addition to the announcement of a range-topping Turbo S, Porsche also revealed the newest Panamera GTS. This is a lighter and simpler car, leaving behind both the hybrid system and its accompanying Porsche Active Ride suspension for a more traditional offering. This is a Panamera, though, so that more traditional offering still features a dual-chamber, two-valve active air suspension system.
The GTS offers 491 hp from the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and reaches 60 in 3.6 seconds. Reinforced anti-roll bars, a standard electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, and a slightly lower default ride height than a basic Panamera bring make this a more focused and direct performance car than its down-market relatives. Top track speed is 188 mph.
Panamera GTS models start at $154,200 before a $1995 delivery fee, or $51,400 more than a base Panamera. The Turbo S E-Hybrid comes in at a more hefty $226,500 before the same delivery fee.
