2025 Toyota Highlander Celebrates 25 Years with a Special Edition
Toyota honors its popular Highlander’s legacy with a special 25th Edition model, which will be capped at 2,500 examples.
The Highlander 25th Edition comes with special puddle lamps, two available paint colors, 20-inch wheels, and more.
Toyota is also making all-wheel drive standard on Highlander Hybrid models.
You’re not dreaming: the Highlander is 25. Well, Toyota is honoring its nearly 25-year run by rolling out a limited-edition Highlander 25th edition. This special-edition Highlander will be capped at 2,500 examples and will pack some special 25th Edition pieces that let the world know you have an uncommon Highlander. Expanding to the rest of the Highlander lineup, Toyota is adding all-wheel drive as standard equipment on the Highlander Hybrid. These hybrid models also bring new Beyond Zero badges and shake up the hybrid Toyota badge.
Built off the Hybrid Limited AWD trim, the 25th Edition comes with, well, the 2.5-liter hybrid system. This system works with the 2.5-liter I4, the eCVT, and an electric motor at the rear to make 243 combined hp while sipping 35 mpg combined. Setting this limited-production Highlander apart is a series of special badges, a limited color palette, and a set of 20-inch wheels.
These 25th Edition Highlanders are finished in either heavy metal or windchill pearl. Though, if you like the silver heavy metal finish, but miss out on the 25th Edition model, this color is also part of the standard Highlander color options. Alongside the limited color options, the Highlander 25th Edition will only sport a single interior color option: portobello.
While the finishes are probably the most important part of this limited-edition Highlander, the real work is in the details. The 25th edition features special puddle lights, 25th Edition exterior badging, and the 11-speaker JBL audio system.
Of course, Toyota is also changing the order sheet on non-limited-edition Highlander models for ’25, too. Toyota is making all-wheel-drive standard equipment on its Highlander Hybrid models. Also standard is the Toyota badge, which doesn’t differentiate between hybrid or ICE-only models. While the Toyota badge is the same, hybrid models will add Toyota’s new Beyond Zero hybrid badge on hybrid models.
While the changes are subtle, so is the change in the base price. The 2025 Toyota Highlander will start at $40,790 when it heads to dealers this November. There’s no word on how much extra the 25th edition will set you back, or how Toyota will allocate the models, but it probably won’t be too far off the current Highlander Hybrid Limited’s starting price of $49,675.
