  • The 2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid starts at $47,470, which is about $5K more than last year after Toyota dropped the base-level LE trim.

  • Starting at $40,970, the nonhybrid Highlander is the most affordable version, but most of its higher trims are pricier than before.

  • For 2025, the regular Highlander XSE gains a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, while the hybrid adds standard all-wheel drive and a 25th Anniversary Edition.

As with many Toyota models, the mid-size Highlander SUV is available with both hybrid and nonhybrid powertrains. However, for the 2025 model year, the hybrid's entry fee is notably higher than last year. That's because Toyota has discontinued the Highlander Hybrid's base-level LE trim that previously started at $42,420. Now, the XLE has become the hybrid's entry point, but its $47,470 base price is nearly $5000 more than before.

Those looking for the most affordable Toyota Highlander will have to stick with the nonhybrid. For 2025, that's still the LE trim that now starts at $40,970. While it, along with the XLE ($44,120) and Limited ($48,225), doesn't receive a significant price hike, the sporty XSE and top-of-the-line Platinum do. The former starts at $47,790 (up $2325), while the latter starts at $53,375 (up $2200).

The Highlander Hybrid has a smaller selection of trim levels. Along with the aforementioned XLE, there are the Limited and Platinum, which now start at $51,925 and $55,125, respectively. Those prices are both $2250 higher than their 2024 counterparts, but that's largely because front-wheel drive is no longer the standard configuration. Now, every gas-electric Highlander has all-wheel drive.

Other updates for the 2025 model year include the XSE gaining a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, all hybrids donning Toyota's "Beyond Zero" badge, and there are two new paint colors: Cement and Heavy Metal. To celebrate the Highlander's 25th birthday, there's an anniversary edition based on the hybrid-powered Limited that has special badging inside and out as well as upgraded features and color options.
