2025 Toyota Highlander Screen Acreage Grows, Hybrid Adds Standard AWD
The 2025 Toyota Highlander increases its screen real estate as the nonhybrid XSE gets a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
The Highlander Hybrid ditches front-wheel drive, with all trims now coming with standard all-wheel drive.
A new anniversary edition celebrates 25 years of the Highlander with special badging and a unique suite of features.
Toyota knows it has a good thing going with the Highlander mid-size SUV. Things are going so well, in fact, that Toyota is celebrating the model's 25th birthday with a new anniversary edition based on the Hybrid Limited trim.
The Limited 25th-anniversary model is available with a new Portobello shade for the leather upholstery. The exterior is available in Wind Chill Pearl white paint or the newly available Heavy Metal silver paint. There are no mechanical changes to differentiate the anniversary model from the rest of the lineup, but all 2025 Highlander Hybrids now feature standard all-wheel drive. The special edition does set itself apart with silver trim for the front and rear bumpers and the side rockers.
Opening the anniversary edition's doors reveals special puddle lamps and the 25th Edition logo on the sills, headrests, and floor mats. The interior elevates itself from the normal Limited trim with the upgraded digital gauge cluster, an 11-speaker JBL setup, and leather upholstery.
Changes to the standard Highlander lineup are minimal and focus on cosmetic changes. The biggest news is the addition of the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for the nonhybrid XSE, joining the top-trim Platinum with the increased real estate. The Heavy Metal silver paint from the anniversary model is also available on the XLE, Limited, and Platinum with a new Cement paint exclusive to the XSE. Changes are rounded out with the inclusion of Toyota's Beyond Zero badge for all hybrid models.
According to Toyota, the new Highlander will begin arriving at dealerships in November. Pricing for the front-drive non-hybrid model starts at $40,970.
