Yahoo Autos 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Displays Off-Road Chops in New Teaser
Honda continues to tease the 2026 Passport TrailSport, showing its mid-size SUV testing in taxing conditions in Moab, Utah.
The images show the next-generation Passport's boxier body and new amber daytime running lights.

Honda is readying a new generation of its Passport mid-size SUV. The Japanese automaker first hinted at a brawnier front-end design with a shadowy image of the off-road-oriented TrailSport model earlier this summer. Now, Honda has released a new batch of teaser photos and a video showing the all-terrain SUV conquering a variety of natural obstacles while undergoing testing in the grueling desert of Moab, Utah.
The images reveal a boxier design than the outgoing Passport, with upright front and rear ends and a flat hood. The teaser shown in July revealed piercing amber daytime running lights, which we can just barely spot peeking through the camouflage. The Passport TrailSport also appears to feature large grille openings and rides on durable-looking seven-spoke wheels.
Honda divulged a few details about what we will find under the new Passport TrailSport's sheetmetal, promising that the 3.5-liter V-6 will be "new" and "more powerful," although we expect it to still be based on the bones of the current 280-hp 3.5-liter engine. While the current Passport uses a nine-speed automatic transmission, the next iteration will gain a 10-speed automatic and utilize Honda's torque-vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system.
Honda says it has been testing the Passport TrailSport in a variety of challenging settings, including Moab's rocky terrain, sand dunes in western Michigan, and trails winding through the forests of Appalachia. Honda says the 2026 Passport and Passport TrailSport will be unveiled this fall, with sales kicking off early in 2025.
